The signal at pin 6 of the 5534 (preamp output) is dynamically changing. You cannot set the null-offset adjustment using a multimeter. Only at a setting of slightly more or less 0V, the circuit works.
Make a try and adjust the voltage on the 5534 in the range of + or - 0.5V
