Just experiment with battery black powder and some glue, what is good resistance value for the graphite?
What if i mix it with resin filler as screen?

Graphite / resin doesn't work none conductive
Graphite / rubber glue also fails none conductive


PVA and Yacht varnish both work okay

I have about 1K per cm. Seem's good for SMW and IDX.

Works fine without a gap with graphite/PVA mix

Thin 5mm coils thick are fine just top and bottom

Thicker coils need the edge doing as well otherwise wet grass becomes a problem.

Great thing is that how little graphite layer can make big difference.

Probably not.. I leave a gap anyway but cannot tell any difference using " Blaster" brand spray graphite. It's not quite as conductive as nickel spray.

Thank's Don, first time when i experimented with powder mix, it was with 1 cm gap. For IDX, work's much better than alu foil shield. Next coil i will try without gap.

That's the same way i maked, but not with spray, i just maked myself graphite powder mix. First painted as bandito show in his picture, later when filled with epoxy resin i do one more layer, twist ground wire with graphite mix and final, add one more epoxy layer, maybe 1mm to cover shield.

main problem is where to get unexpensive silver powder. in mix with graphite powder that will give best result.
silver has interesting feature - its oxide is also an excellent conductor. so that why silver sufface in contacts is
not needed to clear.

MG Chemicals "Super Sheild" is the only thing that comes to mind.. but not cheap.
