  • To Nexus Man

To Nexus man. Just had a call from my good friend Mark. He said there is a comparison field test in next months Detector User Magazine, between Nexus, Saxons X-1, Minelab Explorer, and Whites DFX. According to Mark Saxon is deepest by far. Mark is a typesetter for Link House Publications so he gets is Magazines a week or so early. But you should have no problem getting a copy from one of the large newsagents ( Borders or Smith’s ) about the beginning of April.

As to my knowlege Nexus are not availeble to any shop, but only by customers order. Did that magazine purchase a Nexus detector for that comparison or what?
It seem soemwhat fishy to me if it is so difficult to get hold of those detectors, how anyone will get it in this kind of test.
Besides Nexus was first advertised in the Treasure Hunting magazine. Now suddenly the field test report goes to be done by some lower grade magazine.
Would you mind to stop the lies people.
What is the point of it?

        • Actally I prefer Detector User to the other two UK mags. There test are done on a more detailed way. Also they have free small ads at the back of the Magazine. They usually borrow detectors for the tests.

Saxon is deepest on what? Iron perhaps, since it does not have much of a discrimination.
That Saxon is better for the PI forums as the PI`s are also not good in the discrimination. Good similarity, is it not?

Do you mind to tell me who they will borrow Nexus from. I would be interested to ask the owner some questions about Nexus. I do not know anyone who has it yet.

Wrong ....The Nexus was first advertised on Gary's Detecting web site not the Treasure hunting magazine.
                  www.garysdetecting.co.uk/nemesis.htm
This is where the first tests prototype was publicly anounced the machine was originally called the G-Tec Hunter and development went on from there.
I think if it was not for Gary UK this machine would still be a one off prototype. He has also done a lot of work on other machines and taken no glory.

                  • Hi All,

Qiaozhi, You are RIGHT 100% The UK magazines are full of lies and bullsh&t and I've been fighting it for six years now.

Cozy write ups?? The Cibola had a lousy field test, and what happened? Frank Mellish of Treasure World told the magazine to "Not print that, I'll get a better one done"..FROM THE HORSES MOUTH!! Same thing with the new XP Goldmaxx imported by Regton (conclusion to new field test?? "No advantage gained over old type Goldmaxx, so not sorth buying". That bit DID NOT GET PRINTED)!

I stopped advertising with these liars, I import Compass Metal Detectors, when I had a INDEPENDENT (and I really mean that) field test done, guess what was ALSO i nthe magazine...Minelab Explorer Field test, not a new one, but ANOTHER one done by another person.

When I come up with a new marketting idea, When the advert comes out, my two main competitors have answers to my great idea, Coincidence? NO!! SOMEONE who works for the magazines is telling them what I am doing, what jerks. I'm sure it is illegal.

I am going to set up a new forum for HONEST field tests, by USERS, and anyone caught hyping a machine up will be banned and exposed as a liar. It's about time the gullible UK detectorists stopped thinking the rubbish they read is true, and started listening to people like us.

UK Detectorists get lied to and ripped off BADLY by some dealers, and the magazines are no better, they will NOT print an honest field test for fear of losing the advertising revenue the large dealers bring in.

                    DO NOT TRUST THE MAGAZINES.

I agree with you there that warfolk nolf guy posts a field test every month in the magasine under a different name every month and he gets payed well for it.

                      • Yeah Sid,

I'm ready to read your new honest testing forum as soon as it's up. I have been trying to get some real information about detectors for my next purchase and I find nothing consistent that an average consumer can rely on. It seems the reputable dealers will not make any comments about their products, while there is all this magazine hype designed to mislead. The best advice I ever got is from people using their metal detectors and selling them to get a new one that works better.

Any company who wants to show how good their detector is can bring their gear to the North/South hunt and let some real testing with witnesses happen. I would like to see a lot of those hyped up detectors work side by side with their competition.

As far as I know the test results for the Nexus published in Gary`s website and the Treasure Hunting magazine were not proven hype so far. At least I am not aware of any say so against.

                          • Other deep machines

I have been told about Chinese machines that are soon to be released which are VERY DEEP and are state of the art compared to ALL other manufacturers on todays market.
There is a Chinese multi frequency model on test in the UK and US now.

This new detector may be deep but can it find tiny hammered coins in lots of iron while discriminating the iron?If not it's no good to me & lots of others.

                              • Honest Field tests at last

In one Magazine ( Detector User ) they are trying are to do fair and honest field tests.
In this months issue they do a depth comparison test ( in Ground ) with four top end detectors. Nexus, Saxon X-1, Minelab Explorer, and Whites DFX. So I have been told Saxon in by far the deepest. Also in this months issue is a product report on a new Chinese multy frequency detector that uses Carbon Dating technology to identify the age of non ferrous objects. It is claimed to be accurate plus or minus 50 years. This advanced technology will give a good indication of the date when the metal was refined. This months Detector User will be on sale next Saturday from most large Newsagents, or direct from the publishers.
