This is a Tornado 1000 coil for a Sovereign.
If I remove the board and put it in a 20 inch DD coil will it work?

Repairing the rotting cable of the Sovereign, which has also failed at the pigtail. The cable is glued together as it passes through the pigtail making seperation of the four wires virtually impossible. In the coil itself going in via the top looks like the best splicing option as the wires seperate and are held in glue which is soft compared to the resin.

sure i can not give direct links on SPRINT LAYOUT because pirate version... will be immediately deleted by moderator (those cases had been).
so PLEASE seek it in YOUR sector of Global Net. i believe it is francuas -? i took it from russian zone of the net, sure do not know what are in english... not living in... english is not my native...

ok. i just SHOW you what you HAVE TO SEE,

Hi, in this diagram the capacitors are 600pF (0.6nF) and 1000pF? Because I only found the value for the 600pF written as 560pF or 680pF. Can it still work with one of the two?

it's a variant of the preamp with NE5534 and LM394 (SSM2210), some kinda old. also, this is not my layout =), i do not use Sprint Layout.
open folder AD797 in the archive and you will find a pcb with AD797.

Either should work, I would go with 560pF.

                    Thanks Carl, kt315,
I started from the *.lay file with the old assembly (NE5534 etc) because I had it (thanks kt315).
Easier for me, and to produce the PCB.

I have a Chinese MD3010 concentric coil lying around at home, if I put the amp in will it work too? Don't I have to make sure the H and Ohms are "correct"?

I don't know anything about the MD3010, other than it is a Chinese vlf clone. So it probably has a high inductance rx coil which won't work on a Sovereign.

You need a 1mh Tx coil, 1 ohm or less. The Rx coil about 400uh, 4 to 6 ohms. I built a few concentric coils for the Sovereign which did not function very well. In the concentric configuration, the feed back and rx coils interact which cause excessive ringing. You will need to add damping resistors to the coils and adjust for minimal ringing. As far as I remember no one ever produced a concentric IB coils for ML BBS detectors. Building a DD coil is the best choice. The Tx and Rx coils do not interact and it is much easier to balance.

Yes, there were several concentric coils for Sovereign.
Detech "Excelerator" and HotHead "The Ferret" made some, but they're nowhere to be found.

There is a video on Detech's but I can't find it anymore.

I measured this concentric disc for MD-3010.
                            1 White
                            2 Shielding

                            5 Black

                            4-5 : 2,342mH - 5,05 Ohm
                            1-3 : 1,43uH - 1,04 Ohm
                            2-3 : 772uH

This coil has a center-tapped TX. If the bucking coil is done right, then it can't be used on a Sov.

I have been trying to trade my concentric coil, Detech for a Tornado coil. My coil was never submerged in water, but it felt like it was not water proof. Just the other day, I was curios about the coil cover. I didn't know if it was an actual coil cover or not. It was hard to remove, but when I did, it was in fact a coil cover. It pulled away the bottom half of the coil clam shell. I was messing with it, and was able to completely undo the glue that held the coil together. I wanted to completely separate the halves, but it was internally glued with what looks like double sided tape. I stopped, and placed Kapton tape around the seam. The coil still works. I'm still trying to trade it plus a sovereing meter for a Tornado coil or a Sunray coil to put on my Excal.
