  • Commander 11 mono coil

Hello, does anyone know how to connect an 11" mono commander coil to use in a PI detector? We know it has 5 pins. Does anyone know the inductance and resistance?

      Thank you very much, Carl.
I'm thinking about adapting it to my GS5 lite.

        Hi Emersonpaz,

Mono 300uH and 0.4 ohms are the standards.

        Regards, Ian.

Thank you, yesterday I just received the 11-inch Commander mono coil, and yes, I came across this low resistance.
Even so, I tested it on my GS5 using the diagram Carl provided. It worked well, but the 5 W, 390 R damping resistor got very hot and made the detector unstable. Current setting: 103 uS pulse, frequency: 2650 kHz.
As suggested by eduardo1979 I will apply a 2.2 ohm resistor in series with the irf840 drain (k2545) as is done in the GS4 and perhaps reduce the pulse to 60uS 80uS if necessary.

I'll come back with feedback after updating.

Drain output MOSFET 2R2 10W and damping 3 resistors of 5W 120R in series totaling 360R.Continuous pulse 103uS frequency 2650hz.

Doing some delay tests at least adjusting ground to the bass side, it can discriminate gold well but cuts other metals like silver and copper.

I think you need to adjust the active clamp so that after passing the metal over the coil it doesn't make a sound like in the video, after passing over the coil the sound should stop!

Hello Orbit t, thank you for your comment. It was taking a while to stabilize.I solved it by changing TL084 to TL064. In this video below, you can see that its behavior is better. I had to change the configuration because the heat generated was a big problem. Now the 10W resistors and the 3 5W series resistors are slightly warm. My current configuration reduced the pulse from 103uS to 62uS and the frequency from 2650Hz to 2150Hz.

                            Hello Emersonpaz

How did you find out - show an impulse in a photo.
