  • Turning a pinpointer into a PI - Possible

    Hello.

I've been given this Chinese junk (brand is SHRXY). By sheer curiosity, the previous owner had opened the coil casing. Still working, it can detect a quarter at about an inch.
I just want to know if any one here has ever tried to make a coil for such a cheap machine. Would it be possible to turn it into a somehow usable short range PI metal detector for surface coinshooting?

    Best regards,

    MC

The coil appears to be a simple mono winding so it would probably be easy to replace the circuitry with a PI design.

      Hi,

the simple Russian "Pirate" PI detector circuit would be suitable to fit into the detector handle. The Pirate PI is very simple, but sufficient for a "surface coinshooter" project like this.
