Hi,
No that video I have not made yet.
Instead,I have made the second video of the pointer .
To create a video I depend on my son and he is very busy.
I said I wanted to make the video and I will do it.

I still have old bits of video from the earlier
experiments on discrimination about my MD but that may be better
placed in another thread.

regards

Hi Bente,

Thanks for the Ebay tip.

I had so far not shown any schematic because I wanted to start a DIY project and
it should be optimized and I can not now.

You're right it season is started and it will take too long before everything is ready.

Therefore, I make an appeal to everyone let's optimize together this pinpointer.

There is in this forum more than enough knowledge to make it a success project.

I have worked for months on it to make a simple but effective pinpointer.

I wanted to make a pinpointer that can make cheap.
So it is for every butjet.
That's my goal.

Anyone can make it.

You do not need to solder necessarily (its work fine on a breadboard)

you do not need a osciloskoop

You do not need to program it.

It is not made with SMD components.

Best datas should I still seek. Coming tomorrow.

hello nupi,

i am sometimes in contact with mr. friese, you can trust him.

but you say i only need 10mm ferrit rods? thats no problem.
i buy them from ebay from a german seller

you should ask other people here to help you for improvements

i suppose it is not necessary to post whole shematic

but single stages, or if you want to compare components with replacements you can also ask here for pro and contra

hope you understand

kind regards

i hope you will offer this layout and datas soon for diy project
detection season has begone already here in germany

where did you buy this ferrit core material
i have the possibility to buy 16mm*200mm core for 10€ per piece
also other diameters
but i have to take at least 10 pieces

Hi Bente,

I can not say when I'll start the project because I want to improve
the temperature stability and some adjustments but before that my health needs to improve.

I have spontaneously responded to this tread but I have doubts whether I should have done.

I have not tried out with a core of 16cm.
I have a good result with 10mm, and it's cheaper.
But it's definitely worth it to give it a try

You need 3 pieces of 3.3cm, so with a core of 10cm you can make the coil.
Cores of MW radio are fine.

You can look at this website. www.friese-electronic.de. Maybe you find them useful.
I have never bought anything from him so far, so I have no experience with him.

I want to try with 3 core of 8mm diameter from Conrad to see what the results are.
They are not expensive and well obtainable.

1. question: Can pinpointer detecting thin chain?

Yes, you need a Garrett-Pro-Pointer with manual screw adjustment modification for edge-sensitivity-adjustment.
Depending on your skills and experience while digging out the stuff and feeling the vibration between slow and slightly faster
you will achieve 100 - 300% higher sensitivity!

2. First finding a small chain with metal-detector:

A detector with small coil is needed that doesn't discriminates already little rusty iron nails etc. by default on its lowest or even all-metal settings.
8-15cm (3-6inches) coils which means you will have to sweep alot on the beach or wherever and the lightweight chain must not buried deeper than 10cm or 4''.

That is true, but the special thing about this coil from 2.5 centimeters is that still detect very small particles.

A one and the same coil that can detect 1 euro on 12 centimeters and a link of 0.07 grams of gold on 0.5 centimeters is very special.

Many ingenieurs will attest.

First of all, thanks for your comment.

I think, it depends on what for detection standard you take for a pinpointer.

In the video you can see, for example: link number 2 and 3 for me is this
a pinpointer detection.

But how good is a pinpointer that is sensitive on 1 square centimeter,
but can not detect the target?

Yes. With bigger diameter coil it works more likely as metal detector instead of pinpointer.

But it is much easier to pinpoint with 3 cm. pinpointer coil than with 30 cm. metal detector coil anyway.

Also it has good dept with bigger coil and instead of metal detector it caching small gold.

That idea to build pinpointer with shorter and bigger diameter core works very well! Magnetic field goes much dipper with such shape of coil than with regular pinpointers.

Interesting, maybe with disk shape of core and even bigger diameter of coil it will let to create a metal detector that can find small chains finally.

You says a small core .................Nupi says no.

The coil is special, but it is not the advantages of this device.

The coil is special because it can detect very
small parts with the dimensions that it has.
2.5 by 3.5 centimeters.

Theoretically,is this very difficult, but in practice possible.

The advantages of this device is determined by many factors.

The oscillator is very important. He is actually very similar to the oscillator
which is described in the very interesting book
-Inside the METAL DETECTOR-

The coil is made with 3 ferrite core.
But with one ferrite core is only 10% less depth.

I have the circuit built in several versions. He does on a real breadboard very good.
The detection depth is the same as on the video.

But the best result I have with a circuit in the air. Without board 20% more depth.

And when you any second 2 detecting chirps accept, then
detects the pinpointer 30% more depth than on the video.

So, then detects the pinpointer a 50 eurocents to 14 cm without becoming unstable.
That's why I said it can be even more Improved.

- QUESTION -
Do you know someone who has a lot of knowledge of microprocessors?

Small core and short coil concentrating magnrtic field at the end as well as sensitivity instead of usual pinpointers with long core and long coil.

Am I right?
