There was a question about the book I was reading. " The Metal Detecting Bible" by B. Neice. Happy Holidays Jim

@ Carl-NC
Was the Dual Field Search Coil US 7,994,789 B1 partof the square wave PI system ?

Long before the minelab appeared gpz7000 with a friend we tried what they call zvt the patent is quite clear only i don't know how he would handle big coils , they may have complicated it that many would not understand how it works and it's actually pretty simple I'm doing something similar right now with soil balancing with my magnetometers ..

Here's ML's 'technical information' on their GPZ-7000 using 'ZVT' ( pdf file ):
https://www.minelab.com/__files/f/25...on%20(ZVT).pdf
Bear in mind that ML are prone to 'sales spiel' , obfuscation of the truth, and they don't want to give away too much details on techniques that are proprietry / patented .... so don't take everything at face value.

ML shared a free code, schematics, BOM files, kits with us? i reminder that QUASAR is free code and working with any frequency type coils.
also KROT and FORTUNA. you can choice a frequency&balance via menu on-the-run and not there needed to connect a coil with the micro inside.
all schematics are free, no secrets.

I worked on a square wave PI system at White's, the concept has some performance advantages. It's certainly not just putting the preamp in the coil.
The X-Terra has normal analog TX & RX waveforms, I don't recall that Minelab ever said differently. The digital "VFLEX" part strictly pertains to a digital ID chip in the coil that tells the detector what frequency to run.

all doing ML is the preamp in coil. that gives the grow of depth on 1-2 inch. just that. all another are just mind control manipulation tricks, bare naked adwertizings, misleading
of people.
i say again x-Terra 'true digital V-FLEX tech' is in reality ANALOG signal transmit from a coil and NOTHING OF DIGITAL.
these tricks in their opinion would be blocked all attempts to copy ML coils, but NEL HAD COPIED THE CODE AND DOING TWO-FREQUENCIES COILS
setted TWO MICROS at coil pcb. ML must cry!

Of course , Carl , they'd better name it "Zero Reactive Voltage" , it might be more preciseOriginally posted by Carl-NC View PostWith all due respect to the author, he's writing well beyond his knowledge on the subject. ZVT is what Minelab calls Zero Voltage Technology and is basically square-wave pulse induction. The only detector it applies to is the GPZ7000. "Zero voltage" is a poor descriptor technically, as it actually requires a very high voltage for the turn-on slew, and is followed by a low "hold" voltage for the rest of the transmit, but at no time is it ever "zero."
If we can buy an ideal coil , made of superconductor - we should simply short it to obtain a constant current in the coil , lasting for a long time , and this would be really a zero voltage ... but in real coil we need to apply some voltage to the coil terminals to push the electrons through the copper , to overcome its resistance and hold the current constant - and this is a situation that must be called "zero reactive voltage" with non-zero active component .

You gotta tell us the name of the book. There aren’t many to choose from out there and the ones I know about don’t mention ZVT detectors.

Was it a kind of technical problems or bad management ?
