With all due respect to the author, he's writing well beyond his knowledge on the subject. ZVT is what Minelab calls Zero Voltage Technology and is basically square-wave pulse induction. The only detector it applies to is the GPZ7000. "Zero voltage" is a poor descriptor technically, as it actually requires a very high voltage for the turn-on slew, and is followed by a low "hold" voltage for the rest of the transmit, but at no time is it ever "zero." Minelab also suggests it's a VLF technique but it's really a form of PI. It is not a multi-frequency design so saying it has 28 or 32 frequencies is completely meaningless.

Anyway, if you want to find the largest and deepest gold nuggets, it is probably the best on the market. If you want to hunt salt beaches, or coinshoot parks and lawns, or hunt trashy sites, or cherry pick high conductors, it is probably an exceptionally poor choice. It is also ergonomically one of the worst designs on the market, so if you swing it all day you might have to follow up with physical therapy.

There are some good multi-mode detectors on the market that do several things pretty well. Often they are not the absolute best in any one specialty so you have to consider what kind of hunting you want to do and go from there.

I have been reading a book about metal detecting, an the author mention that a "ZVT" type detector is the best for most metal detecting, There was no mention of the type of wave form transmitted by the device. The author stated that the device transmitted 28 to 32 different frequencies. I was curious does this type of detector really do that much better than the current detectors on the market.
