You can still find genuine LF357 on ebay. I tried also MAC157 (from Poland) and have same performance, see video.

this is animated/GIF pic done by russian guy. you have to see a CHANGING of the signal on CHANGING of the resistor value like you tune it, or turn over a pot. your pic is similar to prelast one, in the GIF.
