  • Positive Negative regulator for PI detectors

Is this kind of adjustable regulator a good option to provide Positive/Negative voltages for PI detectors?

I'm searching for something already made to use as power supply for my test projects and thought this could work, please give me your opinion.

    Thanks.

I prefer using Mornsun but add cost.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334710152357

      Hi cristiano.sar,
I also use for test projects this type of bipolar regulated power supply with 317-337 regulators. In front with 2x10VAC 6VA transformer + bridge rectifier + 2x2200uF/35V capacitors. The advantage of this type linear regulators is the absent of noise from DC/DC pulse converters.

        Hi Cristiano,

If you are using this module, you will need a power source (at least 2 batteries) with a center tap to obtain an input voltage from +/- and GND.

Thank you. I posted the wrong photo. The one that I want to use is this one. Click image for larger version Name:	Screenshot_20251224_222242_Mercado Libre.jpg Views:	0 Size:	185.0 KB ID:	444078

I have one like that and it works very well.

Beside the positive voltage and ground, which you can get from a battery, you still need a source of negative voltage. And since the regulators in this circuit are linear, there has to be a 2 volts difference between input and output for each voltage (+ / -) in order for this circuit to workcorrectly.

Yours actually is different because it doesn't require negative voltage supply in order for it to produce regulated negative voltage.

I found this schematic in another forum, it is an isolated, low noise power supply (may be the input need to be adjusted to accept higher voltages). Is it a good option to use in PI detectors?

All ready-made modules sold on various sites can only be used in pulse detectors that have a P-channel mosfet, e.g. SURF-PI,BARACOUDA, etc.,!NOT! in MINIPULSE, GS4, HAMMERHEAD ..and others that have the coil ground connected to + of the battery.
