COBRA II. what we know about it.

anybody who has an access to King Cobra. it only arrived at me so I am happy to say you now it came to pass
first Q. left trigger MODE=DISC/ALL METALL is not fixed on right side ALL METALL (without good click) and may stay only in neutral/middle side and in left side (with click). is it normal state for the trigger?

Hi,
BTW I think that the IC dip8 near the 2700pF cap is an LM311.
I say that cause I know it's possible to make a good/stable osc. circuit with that comparator and few esternal components.

The 4060 is probably used to div the osc. frequency to trigger other parts of the circuit (ripple counter).

Seems really a good product,
what about depth e.g. for 1eur coin with 8'' coil ?
Anyone knows ?

the Cobra (great drone at photo I believe) PCB is not such I sent earlier here. I see absoliutely another schematic layout than I did wait of. it is good working... although I did buy and hope to see a broken detector.

Cobra PCB

I have this PCB if anyone would like to reverse it. It is actually the same as a "Red Barron" which model I don't know? It was very deep, but the detector was very heavy. The last picture Kit315 posted is a Golden Sabre.

hello, Cobra is again. some problem I meet of. a schematic has not designations as the PCB also. can anyone offer better way to mark all details to its accordance? or, may be anyone have the schematic with the designations?

And THAT drawing was done by William Lahr. I recognise his style and handwriting. This guy reverse engineered ALL the old Tesoros.

Who is he? I thought he was a MD designer for Whites, or Garrett. Where is he these days, anyone know?

Bill Lahr is the wonderful guy. He designed for Whites - Surfmaster PI and Classic series detectors. The majority of schematics are available thanks to Bill. Always I'm very admiring him. At present Bill has very serious problems with sight. Despite it is keeping the jollity. For many years, every day I'm receiving the new portion of jokes . Currently he is living in California and its restoring your Jeep from 1966 of year.

66.175.148.151 The Cobra II's were Treasure Barons made for Kellyco. There were two versions of the Cobra II. The first version was a metal cased base Baron with notch, shown in photo at right that Paul posted a few days ago, and probably what the one on Craigslist is. The second Cobra II was the last plastic cased Treasure Baron Cointrax with version 2.1 chip. Bottom photo is history of Kellyco's Cobra through the second Cobra II. I've got a 1998 Kellyco catalog that has the first Cobra II for $424.95 and shows a list price of $624.95. A&S sold the same detector, until sometime in 2003 I believe, as an A$S Special for $295. I have one of those with external ground balance and threshold pots and it's a kickass detector. The one on Craigslist would be well worth the asking price regardless of which model it is, and especially if it's the Cointrax version.
