There is an issue with DD and "OO" coils. If the number of turns in the receive and transmit coils differs, false signals are generated when they move.

??? Same thing happens if they have equal turns.

I once built a "double-O" coil with three times as many turns on the receive coil as on the transmit coil. When moving the sensor over the ground in one direction, a prolonged false signal occurs. This effect does not occur if the coils have the same number of turns.
