PP/AM mode on excalibur only, What you are doing is separating target from threshold. When you turn down the threshold on the excalibur, at the point of just audible, the threshold is still covering up targets...once you lower the threshold to it's lowest point, these targets are uncovered and the amp allows them to be heard. The threshold of the excalibur does not stop, like falling off a table..it's a gradual slope. The Amp allows you to hear the full extent of the threshold, along with the targets it has covered. And to all fairness to the Df, only my second time out with it, but have done several run in compares with different hunters over the past couple years at several different beachs in the US and only detector that can match the Amped excalibur on small deep targets is the infinium....Shaun's Amp for sovereign, no scmat for it and cannot be copied...

Audio Amp with signal limiter drawing

I found the drawings and will attempt to upload them now. Besides the standard circuit shown here we also producted one with 3 different levels of amplification, as well as one with a 10 segment LED bar graph which measured intensity of the original signal (helpful for night hunting and depth reading). I can't find the triple boost drawing. But have the LED version , I'll need to clean up the drawing alittle before scanning it. Maybe next week?? I've never tryed the pix upload here yet so my fingers are crossed......which makes it all the harder to do it! hehehehahaha........here goes with the version one upload.

Yes I would guess that were one to add components into a balanced circuit there would be circuit operational changes. BUT the task here is to recognise that some very major manufactures - Minelab, Tektronics, and I believe Garrett- all had just such an optional external power amp available for those old workhorses. We all know they were smart people Plus owners/operators have reported that they did work. So the question becomes why and HOW did they design the "add-on" circuit to overcome the negitive effects and rebalance the circuit when the circuit was added on. ??? This is not intended as a technical design forum/debate. We are simply asking if there is a few schematics out there that folks can share with us; even internal photos would help the thread. Also helpful and interesting would be first hand experience stated in a down to earth manor with no techno jargon. Anyone??

I vaguely remember someone saying that the audio output was routed to the coil connector on some machines. Therefore, what might appear as a TX booster could actually still be an audio compressor. Alternatively it's possible that the add-on device is be an RX amplifier. It will be interesting to see if anyone has any information.

Hi, I think putting the amp, this is not a simple task, why amplifier? . These are additional interference. Will shift the phase of the input signal settings GEB and DISC will escape will be impossible to regulate!

It may take me a week or so to get to the drawings.
BUT just to be clear....we all know about the simple audio amp booster/limiter made by Depthmaster and myself in the the 80's. They were a very simple 6 component circuit. My request was to pick up the thread on the inline boosters located between the coil and box. I am assuming they were something quite different?? If so was wanting to see a circuit drawing or two. I left detecting at that time to start gold mining and missed out on that whole power booster thing. Anyone???

I would love to have a copy of the drawings if you can find them. I have found several designs over the last year of audio amps. They are of course portable headphone amps, I have used them with my detector and have found out that they work quite nicely. I will post some of the schematics when I get a chance. Talk to you all later.

Any progress on Booster??

Hi Folks... Was just reading through this thread and noticed there was no additional postings in the last year after discussions on wether there is a schematic circuit drawing available. Has anyone come up with one?? Besides the product mentioned George Payne had one available for his old Mark I Teknetics line. They were made by Dayton Electronics I believe as someone else mentioned here. Was this the same type circuit design as Minelabs???? Lets open this topic up again guys. Does anyone know George and can ask him for the circuit drawing?
As a side note I manufactured a product at the same time as the depthmaster that had variable boost and optional LED BAR visual meter. It was strickly and audio amp with high signal limiting. A audio compressor of sorts. Plugged into the detector earphone plug and ran off an external 1.5 volt battery. I will try to locate the drawings for those products for post here.

I will try emailing them to see if they still make them. One post here showed them selling it so I would think that they are still being made. Hard to sell an item that is outdated.

I have used the sovereign amp shown above. The increase in depth really is as stated. And it's stable. Also there is an increase in sensitivity making it easier to pick up gold chains and other small gold targets.
