Ok so if I want a detector good on mineralized soil, light weight, deep with a larger coil, then
the Makro Racer is a great choice. Smaller gold you go with the higher frequency.
So does that mean you'd pick the Racer over the Gold Racer for your type of hunting?
Sort of a light scouting machine and the targets would be ancient relics.
    Makro
    or
    Gold Makro?

    • Thanx for the Mars link, landman, very good news!
I'm shure the Goliath coil also is very deep but for a very good price.
Henrikras told that he would buy a coil from Mars but so far no info from him
so we don't know about the quality, weight, depth etc.
Seems those coils in combi with the Racer also work fantastic to filter out good stuff at totally trashy sites:
      http://en.marsmd.com/marsmd-tiger-fo...o-racer-video/

      Now the answer:
      Your assumption is absolutly correct:

      > Ok so if I want a detector good on mineralized soil, light weight, deep with a larger coil, then
the Makro Racer is a great choice.

Yes. For best depth and relics in combination with the orig. 40cm coil or with the Mars Goliath.

      > So does that mean you'd pick the Racer over the Gold Racer for your type of hunting?

Right, and for goldnuggets-search you can still get the RC 13 coil (13x12cm).
For the medium deep and small stuff the standard coil already works great.

btw. here are the infos and pdfs for the Gold Racer:
      http://www.makrodetector.com/gold-ra...-detector.html

The 56kHz and the standard coil is for pretty small and not very deep finds.
Optional there is a 40cm coil for the Gold Racer available but because
of the used high frequency, it might be not that deep as the standard Racer.
And it has no vibration! And the Mars coils also might be not compatible.

      Facit:
The Racer is for everything while the Gold Racer rather is for nuggets and small coins.

      • Hey Funfinder I just got me an Apple iphone. I looked in the apps store for metal detecting apps.
I found this one to detect EMF. Do you think this would be a good device to help in the field
to help eliminate or evaluate what sensitivity and gain settings to place on your deep seeking detector?

        • I guess you have to try it. On the website it is descriebed as hoax-app. And that its free.
From the same programmer there also is some ghosts on selfies app.

If it really works it will collects some magnetical data which will be not of much use
for any deep-seeking device. As long as you don't walk over some buried tank!

But you really should check out free GPS and map-apps so you can get and store
the info where exactly the important finds have been located.
Afterwards you can even check with the coordinates and with Google Earth
how the complete area looks from above and if there might be some clues etc.
for further interesting things. Some flashlight-lamp and compass app also is useful.

And if you want you can get now a free instagram account where you can
upload all kind of pix made with the iphone.

          check out: www.instagram.com/metaldetecting/

Anyway, be careful that the apps don't collect and send home your treasure-hunting-data!
If your smartphone-pictures are GPS-taged its very easy to know where they were made...

          • Hi Funfinder and Landman..
            Nice to read your thread..
Since then a lot of water ran in to my river Still a Makro Racer fan and now I got the Mars Tiger coil. Plus 10-15%. Its a Very good coil. Last thursday Makro annoced the new Makro racer 2, with a lot new improvement.. Friday my Racer 1 was sold and the new racer 2 was ordered.
Another great thing coming soon. my best Detector friend and I, we did ordred a DEEPHUNTER... and ist allso coming soon. (1 marts)
It was Thanks to you Funfinder . We should had done this long time ago, and safed those stupid 4200€ we spend at then DRS Ground Exper. But done is done and we can't change that stupid mistake we made. (Dont ever do business with DRS Germany, ist a nightmare)
A another good friend got the Makro Racer Gold.. And he is enjoying it a lot. Very small finds but NOT same dept the standard Racer got. I've got a Vista Gold (25khz), and that is finding small stuff, so I dont need any higher Freq.. (I would need new classes, to find so small finds in the soil )
2016 will be a great year, I'm sure..and I can't wait to go out with the deephunter. One of the first test I will do, is to see how a silver coin hoard can be detected, deephunter mode 1 with T44 coil, compaired to some of the VLF detectors I got, etc. the Racer 2 (when that arrive), XP Deus, AT Gold or even my Bliistool (V3)... That kind of test with a deep hoard is to me important to understand the benefit using the deephunter (or disapointed results, I really dont know).. Time will tell.
If I can help with anything, my mail is; [email protected]
            Henrik.

            • Hi Henrikas,
Congratulations on both Marko products. For me I'm convinced that Nokta and Makro are the leaders for the kind of detecting I want to do. I just ordered a new/used Nokta Goldengate. The junior cousin of the Golden King. Looking forward to continue my research and practice to "see in the ground" All the best and let's keep this thread alive. I'll report back soon with my results.

                • Ahoi Henrikras,

good to hear from you again and also my respect that you have chosen to get the DeepHunter.
From where did you ordered it if I'm allowed to ask?
Meanwhile with the consumer-price level Racer we have the proof that Makro really since always built good products
because many people meanwhile were able to buy it and were successful.

Thanks about the Mars coil info - if the Tiger already works very good I'm shure the larger coils for the Racer from Mars
will do also a pretty good job!

OK, Henrikras - the hoard find is really THE challenge for any detector.

Bury some loose coins or bearcaps spreaded over an area of 15x15cm inside a plastic-bag and check out
what detector finds them. At 70cm depth and with a 30cm coil most detectors have no chance if its loamy
or mineralized soil! But with the DeepHunter you will find some 7cm diameter cannonball already at 80cm.
Because it is non-motion and because the coil is 45cm.

The limit of big coils is just the weight and how you can handle it. I hope you ordered the 1m coil!
Now you have time to built a little waggon so you can drag the 1m coil if you have ordered it.
You will "fly" over the huge fields just by relaxed walking and get all the important "big" stuff.
Also the just 3cm small things the 1m coil will find if they are surface near and you can disc out the rusty nails and iron.
The only important thing is that the coil itself has to roll just 5-10cm over the ground!

And because of the high recovery speed you can even run with this coil or put it on the back of a car if you drive not too fast.

But you also may find larger cavities, tombs or cellars with the DeepHunter if they are not too deep located.
Of course also meteorites or very special mineralized stones.

But also the 33cm motion circuit coil works fantastic. And you will have the most e-smog stable detector available!
I was hunting directly under 380kV lines and found the smallest but very rare coins with it!

But forget about the small stuff, you have now the chance to get all the real precious big and deep artifacts!
In air you can detect an usual alu-tools-case (40x30cm) from 2meters so you know how deep you can search with the 44cm coil.
Because there is not so much difference while using the non-motion circuit - perhaps 20-25% depending on the sensitivity
setting, the mineralization and your personal experience.

OK, lets wait one week and we'll see how everything will be for you and please don't wait too long to inform us!

And thx for the Racer 2 Info! btw. We still need some ultra lightweight 70cm coil!

                  • Hola landman!

On that video you can see the turkish tinkering perfectionism!
But maybe I wanna be even more professional!

The metal has to be found behind mineralized bricks or walls.
Of course this is a static test and if you move the coil over the ground things are a little different.
You need alot time to walk quietly along the walls and check out what might be behind.

And yes, the price on that other website is great. No risk no fun! Get it! You will not lose alot
but you can win alot! 950 TL (turkish lira) are just around 500 dollars and gumuzdedektor has a good portfolio.

The DeepHunter or Golden King of course is easier to handle because of the weight.
It depends on how long are your ways when you go hunting - 300 meters or 3 kilometers...

So please don't forget us here even if you're fully excited and in action at the moment, Henrik!

                      • Well my next excitement and contribution is to post pics and info when I get my Nokta Goldengate.
I should have it in a week or so.

                        • This year will be exciting!

Perhaps I'll travel for some longer treasure-hunting trip throughout Europe
incl. Greece, Turkey, Ukraine and perhaps even to Lebanon and Egypt.

Sounds crazy but I've been already often far away for treasure-hunting - the best adventure you can get!
Spending the nights at cool clubs or hotel-bars, eating the local specialities and having your own
                          thrilling "sight-seeing-trips".

Looking for treasures in formerly old Bactria and Sogdia would be an even more extraordinary trip.
                          Read this and become fascinated:
                          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxus_Treasure
At the moment I'm playing: Operation Flashpoint - Red River - as american soldier at Tadjikistan
                          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operat...int:_Red_River
but this is harmless compared with real adventure life.

                          • Seems a simple "please" will not help because Henrik is very busy with the new DeepHunter,
has little time to visit this forum and so perhaps someone first must writes him an email.

But that's a good sign, because most of the time people complain about things
which make problems much faster than telling that everything works OK.

However, now it's already 10 days and it would be cool if he gave us some update!

Henrik!! Where are you, are you happy with the DeepHunter and I hope that all the snow is gone already
