ıs atx can detect the targets deeper or the same depth from gpx 5000. I am owner a gpx 5000 and ıt is realy wonderfull machine.you know for the professional hunters discramination is not important.the important things is depth and stable.sory for my bad english.

Question for WM6, in one of the threads you had a link to a drawing that you made of your design for this DD concentric coil, could you give the link again please ?

      Thanks

Finally got around to testing the WM6-Davor-ATX dd coil for IB.

It takes a surprisingly very small amount of over lap to make these coils IB.
        see attachment.

I can only assume that the original ATX DD is not a true IB coil,

to get the coils into the shape of the atx dd would have a huge amount
of over lap and be be very out of balance, any comments ?

ATX is a PI machine and it does not require a true IB. However, with a little tweaking of inner loop radius a perfect balance should be achieved with a more agreeable shape. The critical thing is mutual proximity of the straight sections, as they provide anti-balance. So with straight sections further apart you need less overlap. I believe this arrangement has 2 minima, and more interesting is the one with straight sections separated by a few mm.

The topic is quite old, but there are interesting things in it, bravo to EL NINO for raising it. The experiment of 6666, concerning the balance of the two coils, is interesting. Couldn't a much larger overlap be obtained in balance mode, if one coil is bulging and the other is sunken with the part forming the search area.
Then the system would look more like a 4D (OMEGA) coil, instead of a DD.

Tifred revealed most of the mystery here in post #6. I may buy an ATX coil cover as a pattern and try to reproduce the coil.

                  Hi Altra,
It would be really interesting and helpful if you could share the results.

Hi Boilcoil I will definitely post what I find, but it will be some time. Not sure what happened with 6666s experimen? And why it would not balance? The ATX has a Iron sense mode and samples during the Tx pulse, so it must be IB.
