Epoxy is not a good idea, it breaks down after awhile and it doesn't flex, many soften if they get heated up. So you have to watch the type you use. It also doesn't stick well to many plastics.
Silicone you can use, buy from an Aquarium store. Drawback the ammonia gas iot gives off during curing can corrode electronics. I use Marine Goop or P.F.M. which is similar, maybe better if you can find it.

what sort of tool would i need to tap the holes ???
Drill and correct drill bit size and tap depending upon your pot threads you purchase.
I have a special set of drills made for plastics that I use if I am not tapping. Otherwise I just use standard high speed steel bit because i don't have a set of numbered drill bit sizes made for drilling plastic.

did you use splined control knobs or different type ??? sorry so many questions but trying to get everything right with no problems.

Again depends upon the pot you use. I prefer solid shaft for water machines. It's easier to adjust knob height tightening up one or two set screws.

i found the taps on ebay in metric sizes and some have different pitch sizes...and found goop from uk source...the pot i ordered is a 6mm metal shaft with slot...can a splined control knob be used with this or would i need screw type knobs to go with slot shaft ???

Generally you need the right knob to fit a particular type shaft. Otherwise you spend money and have to fart around trying to make something work.
Knobs are cheap if you stay away from Farnell, Mouser, Digi-key, Allied etc.

By the way, many of us on Geotech buy from this company. Average delivery time is 15 to Canada. May vary to the UK.

Cancel your order and just buy them direct from Underwater Kinetics here in Canada.

            [email protected]

Or there are some UK and European distributors http://www.uwkinetics.com/support/in...l-distributors

Continuing on building a better Mirage PI. Making small improvements all the time.
Waiting for parts nothing new to me, have gotten used to it when ordering on line.
