Unfortunately, Bourns does not offer any waterproof pots.

        Best Regards,

Buy and try you'll find out soon if its just waterproof but not submersible.
Some are waterproof until they are submersed. Some maybe water proof for 30 minutes.
Have to read the fine print and look at the gov't test ratings.
And some will warp after being submerged for a length of time. UV rays also break down some plastics, causing stress cracks and warping, then leakage.

Found another link with waterproof boxes. http://www.xoomwaterproofbox.com/products.html

            http://likerkayak.en.alibaba.com/pro..._Box_Case.html

Always look at the internal size as well, for fit.
Also some boxes do not have an o-ring for sealing. The seal is foam which is part of the inside lining that cannot be removed. So internal size will be much smaller than the exterior. The foam will need to be cut away from the sides etc. for pots, switches, connectors.

                Hi Dave,
I used this box at big five for 7 dollars. Its has a outdoor products and has a nice seal. It has room for batteries if you wanted.
I opted for magnetic pots By placing little roller bearings in the box on a lever. The bearing pressure against the underside of the lid is adjusted by using knobs that have a set screw. I use a small rare earth magnet I keep on my scoop to adjust them. Works great you can make very small adjustments just like normal. You just gotta have some extra room, and a box with flat surface. If I can find some sliding pots that will be the next version.
For Power I just made a diaphragm for a rocker switch.
I do not have the seal in in the picture.

good idea the magnets...the magnets i tried were not strong enough to turn the potentiometers.

Nice idea with the magnet & ball bearing.

                      @ daverave :

I made two rotating pots with many small magnets for the pipe version of the surf pi longboard.
It works well. I did test different pots though, some were stiff like you experienced, some just too big ... aaarghh.

I'll put photos in tomorrow if you like when I have sunlight.

                      Cheerio

I looked at those really hard and decided not to order them. They are cheap plastic and will crack.
Most are IPS 66 or IP67, not even IP68. Even if they say they are IP68, they are not.
You have to make sure the clear top is polycarbonate.
These type you mentioned are made for outdoor use for areas that will be affected by rain, etc.
                          http://www.alibaba.com/trade/search?...es+electronics

If they work for you, by all means use them for your personal water machine. Cost wise they are cheap.
But, I build PI water machines for others. I take no chances and buy the best that I know will not leak. Personal preference.

Another very good source is older Ikelite underwater camera, strobe housings, there are many you can modify. Some are made of 1/8" polycarbonate and some are made of 1/4" polycarbonate.

They may fit the long board Surf.

I picked up a really nice basic Ikelite cube. Small, 1/4" thick with no lens ports to cover. A bit heavy but rated to 200' under water depth.

                            Hi daverave,

Took some pics today. The magnetic parts on the inside are like the ones on the outside knobs. The circular magnetic direction is n-s-n-s-n-s.

The reed switch powers off with a magnet via mosfet, so no worries if I lose it, I can still go detecting

The orangy tape inside is teflon sticky tape, makes it extra slippery. This is my first build. Next one will be cleaner.

Hope the pics give you some ideas ...

                                Hi Polymer
I like your magnet system I tried something similar with the magnets on a wheel inside and magnets outside. It worked ok except for the stiffness of the pots. and ended up kinda heavy.
I opted for high carbon steal bearing and a stack of magnets just like yours in the picture. I had the room in the enclosure so I went for the levers, I didnt think of a magnetic switch though that would have saved me a bit of time on engineering and a hole in my enclosure. So with a magnetic switch and magnetic pots you only have to install cable glands and its waterproof. Right on
Sounds like the recipe for my next project.
