Half Sine Wave Hybrid Detector Technology

Half-sine goes back to the 1960's in some Barringer patents, used for airborne detectors. US8629677 and US9285496 describe truncated half-sine which adds a PI response to half-sine. The design I had working at White's was impressive. It had a deep PI response with a large capacity for discrimination, plus ground tracking. And, when ground tracking was turned on, it went deeper. Nothing at all like the GPZ.

In any case, I guess the phase shift of the target is also present in a traditional PI during the ramp-up of the Tx signal ready to be measured during on-time. After all the linear ramp is a sum of frequencies that can possibly be band-pass filtered and analyzed separatey.

I have plans to look at the phase during TX pulsing but haven't had enough time to work on the PIC code yet.

Not exacty, patent entitlements have been created to foster technical progress. The privilege is given in exchange for disclosure. Yes, but if the improvement still infringes the original patent, you can't simply ignore the infringement. True, it is 20 years of entitlement in exchange for disclosure. But the patentee does not have to exploit the patent and can still prevent others from doing so. Thanks for all your responses on the half sine wave hybrid technology, I am hoping this hybrid detector, if it ever reaches the market, will not have such complicated coils as say a gpz, too cost prohibitive, etc. Sounds like it may be a viable machine for nugget detecting if something like this hits the market. Most the gold we go after these days in the gold fields is 1/2 gram to 2 gram nuggets at extreme depths, missed by all the older technology machines. Most the easy large gold has already been found since the pi detectors were very good way back on large nuggets, sd 2000 etc. Always looking for new tech, loopholes you might say where undiscovered nuggets can be found. The new flatwire coil have helped a lot in this regard, I am getting an extra 2 inches more on small gold at depth with these new tech coils.
