Lot of crazy thoughts here.
Using ARM7 for such task is overkill, carrying a loads of counterproductive tradeoffs.
Presumably it will demand 5kg's battery too?
But why not, the hell!
I have some blue pills here, so i wondering; would that code be back-transferable?
My modest knowing of ARMs tells me that simpler things should be transferable.
Since this is mostly diy forum; it is always easier to play with ready made modules.
Also it is always smarter to place own intellectual work on GitHub.
That's how you protect it from usual trolling.
Later on just place here the links.
Be a smart, listen to old man!
P.S.
Wanna more bits?
Use bare bone mcu with codec.
Hell of a job in just few cents.
Gray modes, milliamps on the line.
Stop with crazy thoughts.
haha, what blue pills? Yes maybe Kiss principal is best and your advice very sound but I get the impression gtdavid is enjoying designing and has done some nice work so I would like to encourage him to continue on and see where it leads, even if it is trimmed down later, it great to see. There are already plenty of analog designs on this site and very clever ones at that, I think there is room for another digital Pi Just my thoughts
Cheers

Interesting, Ill have a closer look tonight, I think I would still put an external OPamp out front but that is just me
cheers

hi gtdavid,
had a look at specs of st32h7 internal opamps and they would be fine for the purpose of ADC filters /drivers or second gain stage etc but like most combined analog digital chips, they are a compromise. Having said that these particular ones are much better than I expected but really in my books still not enough for a good front end. Just my thoughts and experience.
On another note, it's a pity the internal DAC were not also 16 bit
I have used the blue pills before and have killed so many prototypeing when thay make a stm f7 or h7 breakout board I could do a PCB shield version.
Mdtoday where did you find extended specs on the opamps I have only seen the brochure. I was going to message st for more info. I will be putting on GitHub tonight after a clean up.
Haha, Yeah, the data is within the last section of the ST32H7 data sheet just after the timing diagrams, I'll go back on site and find the link again and post
I was looking fir an evaluation board but can't find one atm
russians recall this type 'md with direct processing' (converting??). these are PI type Chance (Andy did not get full result how he waited), VLF type Quazar, VLF type Tango, VLF type Krot 2XM, VLF type Fortune, VLF type Suslik 2.04M.
so your dream to get full discrimination from PI is hard issue.
Hi Ivconic,
haha, what blue pills? ... I think there is room for another digital Pi...
The ones that make you crazy like i am!
Indeed, there is whole series of ARM's put on a small pcb with extracted pins in dil arrangement, very easy and human for hobbyists.
The other day i trashed one codec just because they didn't extracted external clock option.
It is impossible to solder such tiny pins without special equipment.
That's why red and blue pills (oh what a stupid term) are pretty user-friendly on hobbyists.
And if you want your project to get a life; you must take into account the quantity of people able to reproduce it and become interested in it.
We've seen so many misses on this forum, when somebody pick something "non-human" to work with.
Only few followers in the beginning and later on nobody stays. Project dies fast and unfinished.
...
Yes of course, there is always a room for another digital Pi. Always welcome.
Yes, for sure I agree with your points, I guess I just like to encourage anyone who wants to have a go.
I for one have had failed projects and ideas and would still encourage, as you do, others to post projects.
it was only days ago someone posted asking if this Site was in danger of becoming just a review site.... yet here we have gtdavid posting an idea.
Not it every idea will succeed but equally not every project will fail so I say bring them on
