    1/4 X 1 1/2 Inch Ferrite Rod.
I Wound a 2 Layer Coil on it Using 30 AWG wire, with a measured Inductance of 1.2 mH.
(Not Sure of exact number of Turns, But Close Wound covering 1 Inch of the Rod.)

(Going to Cuba on Jan 17 for a Holiday, so may not reply more.)

I use the 1u5 Because I got a Deal on ordering a 1000 lot of them.
    You can use 1u tantalum.
I like Tantalums, but even a 0.1 Polyester or Disc Cap will work.

I Buy Most of my Parts in 100, !000, Some even in 10,000 Lots.

However, Soon to Throw them All in the Garbage.

@Chemelec,,,,Thanks for the pcb image,,you're a star. I'll trace over it in Sprint and give it a try,,,I'll have to order some tantalums though cos' I don't think I have any 1u5,,,,Sorry to ask, but do you have an image of the silk screen? Much appreciated. Regards. Marty

I Tried to Upload this Layout, But it says it is Too Big of a File.
Even tried Re-Sizing it Much Smaller.
It was Created in Sprint 6.0.

Thanks for the video Gary, but i cant see the schematics on your site(nothing with jfets at least). Is it new project?

It worked great at first but then only the LED's worked when there was detection,,no sound,,,don't know why? I tried several different chips,,both pic12f675 and the pic12f629,,it would give sound and LED's at first then only LED'S. I'm still trying to figure out why. Thanks. Marty
It works for me in the middle east. Try another browser.

You can buy Malysh as (all ready soldered, inclusive 5cm coil,
what you need more is housing) kit from this Bulgarian guy:
