Hiya Tibuck,,,,I love VLF's also,,,,But I'm still practising and studying how to null and tune the coils,,,,I have them all ready made to spec etc, for the IDX/TGSL and IGSL. I've got the rest of Winter though to work this all out,,,and suss my DSO 5102P out too!,,lol. With you living in Canada, haven't you tried the Mirage out yet? Only Sven swears by it for Inland detecting,,,,I like it too. Thanks. Marty

You would if you be living around here! I did one summer with the Minipulse plus and the Surf PI, in woodlands and parks! Sure I dig up a few coins and bling rings and such! but I also dug up a 5 gallon pail worth of rusted nails, and a large size Rubbermaid storage box of metal bots and such! Then I did the TGSL, I used all last season! went back to a lot of the place I had gone with the MMP, Where all the nail digging was driving me nuts the summer before, Came back with 6 silver coins, a silver bracelet and more coins then nail in fact, 4 pounds worth of copper pennies! IM VLF all the way from now on. lolOriginally posted by MartyJ1963 View PostI'm same as you, I'm not really bothered about discrimination either,,,I don't mind dgging everything,,

Hi Chemelec,,,,I used to only like VLF Detectors when I first got into the hobby,,,but that was mainly because I live inland and the nearest beach to me is about 2 hours away and I don't drive (No interest in cars so I never learnt,,lol.) I do enjoy P.I Detectors now as much as VLF's. I love the 'Mirage' Detector,,it's great cos' I can use it inland,,in fact I've found more with the Mirage than my T2,,,I've only used my T2 twice and it stays at home now,,lol. The other P.I I like is the Minipulse Rev-D and Rev-E,,,great at the coast but not mastered using it inland yet like the Mirage. I'm same as you, I'm not really bothered about discrimination either,,,I don't mind dgging everything,,like you say, there's more things in the earth that haven't been seen for a long time other than valuable coins, jewellry and gold. My favourite coils up to now, for the Minipulse and Mirage, are 3DSS Coils. I've mastered making them now and can , more often than not, wind a coil to a specific inductance and resistance first time and it barely takes me anytime to do it now. I started winding bundle wrapped coils for the Mirage, all to the recommended specs/techniques/litz wire/resistance as stated by Sven, and even though I always got to the recommended 300uh and 1.4 ohms resistance I found that my 3DSS Coils at 300uh and 1.4 ohms came out more sensitive,,,and I didn't have to shield those like the bundle wrapped coils. I got about 2" inch more depth as well,,,love that Mirage! (I built one for my partner too). I did try some Flat wound coils,,it was when I wanted a coil for my Surf PI 1.2,,,but I use 3DSS for that as well,,,sensitivity is great on it, but I hate the audio so I rarely use it. I like P.I's that make the 'Tick-Tick' sound,,,the Mirage and Minipulse sound great. I've still not figured out though why my Minipulse Rev-D sounds different to my Rev-E??? Must be something to do with the difference in components? I'll figure it out one day as I learn a bit more of this electronics game,,lol. I prefer using the Rev-D more than the Rev-E,,more for the audio difference cos' they're both equal on the depth and sensitivity. Anyway Chemelec,,,Have a good trip, be safe and most of all,,,enjoy yourself. Regards,,Marty

I prefer just PI Detectors. No Discrimination, just detects All metals.
Discrimination usually causes some loss in detection distance
Just because something is Not Gold, does Not mean it isn't Valuable.
And I Prefer a flat wound coil like these ones I make.
And I can also use a Pin Pointer like this on it.

Thanks Chemelec,,,,,,I know what you mean,,I have a folder full of future projects,,I have etched the PCB's already for a later date for when I'm a bit more skilled,,Also I have to make a collection of parts for them,,,I think the most advanced detectors I've built so far are the Mirage and the Minipulse beach unit,,,They're my favourites so far,,they work great. I've built several VLF Detectors,,all work,,but I've been waiting for this Winter to come so I can spend it on trying to perfect the DD Coils and Concentrics,,I'm still studying and learning that part but at least I've got a full Winter to practise. I made some DD and Concentric coils for them during Autumn,,a set of DD and a Concentric each for the IDX, the TGSL and the IGSL,,all coils are in spec but I'm yet to learn this Hantek DSO5102P Oscope that I purchased last Spring. At least by the time this Spring comes I will have learnt a little more,,LOL. Regards, Marty

That was Just a Sample, I have many Other Parts Bins.
Many Parts can be used to make Metal Detectors.
First you Need to Decide What your Actually Building and is Most Suitable for What your Searching For?
No ONE Metal Detector is good for All Situations.
So Find Some Detector Schematics that Interest You.

Thanks Chemelec,,,,Wow,,that's a lot of parts to contend with,,,But like I say, if you could find time after your holidays to sort out a variety of stuff you'd like to sell and give me a price that would be great,,,I'm in no rush and have a definite interest. Mainly IC's, Transistors, Mosfets and anything obscure that's to do with detector building. Thanks again. Marty

Hiya Chemelec,,,,Thanks for replying, I do appreciate and understand you saying it would be difficult to list everything you have etc,,,,but if you could let me know what IC'S/Transistors (Mainly) etc that you have for sale, or possibly make a bulk package of and give me a price we could maybe do a deal. I know you're just about off on your travels and there's no rush on my side, I'll be still interested in doing a deal in the future with you when you're back off your holidays and have had time to sort through your comonents etc,,,When I first asked you about if you was selling any components I just thought you'd like to make some profit back rather than throw everything in the garbage. I'll always be interested in buying from you so like I say, no rush, let me know later down the line,,,there's always a way round the P&P and sometimes I don't mind paying the extra if it's worth it. Have a great time in Cuba and Mexico,,,speak soon. Regards,,Marty

I have Well Over $100,000.00 in Parts inventory.Originally posted by MartyJ1963 View PostHiya Chemelec,,,,,Thanks for your reply. I live in a small town in South Yorkshire, England,,,a place called Rotherham. It is mainly Analogue parts that I'm interested in. I have built a few Digital detectors I.E: Felezjoo, Pickini, etc,,but I'm more interested in detectors similar to Mirage, IDX, Minipulse etc,,,I prefer detectors with just knobs and not screens if you know what I mean. I'm interested in any Analogue IC's that are used in detectors,,,I do build other circuits - little guitar amps, small power supplies etc, but I'm wanting to make a stock pile of any parts and components involved just in building detectors as my main goal is to get as fluent as I can in the building side of this hobby.
If you could sort out a list of everything that you're getting rid of we could maybe come to a deal on what you would like for them. As for P&P, I wouldn't mind the cost of it if I could get an ideal variety of components in one go. The only thing I hate about building detectors is that when I've built something that contains faults or doesn't work at all, you have to wait then, order more parts, more solder, more copper clad etc,,lol,,,all because you're TOO eager to achieve what you're trying to do. If you have time to make a list of what you're wanting to sell, or if you already have an inventory of the parts you're selling, you could PM me about it if you like and I could look through what you have and let you know what I'd be interested,,or if you were selling everything at a price I could afford I would buy them all from you. I've never messed anyone around so I can honestly say that I'm certain I wouldn't be wasting your time and would definitely buy some components from you. I'm still learning the craft of electronics at the moment so my knowledge of components, names of components, what they're for, what they do etc is limited,,,,I'm just wanting to collect what components I can, associated with Detectors, and build a stockpile so that I can keep building and not run out of components,,lol. Hope you can help and if you have time for a list I will definitely take some parts off your hands. Thanks. Marty
FAR TOO MANY Parts TO LIST and Shipping it all would be Really Expensive.
The UK is a FREE Phone Call for Me.
However I am on my Way for a holiday to Cuba on Jan 17 and off to another Holiday in Mexico, Just after Returning back from Cuba.
NEED SOME WARM WEATHER!

I have just posted a pin pointer circuit based on the FM2 but you need to program a PIC 12F629 but is very sensitive.

The Problem in getting rid of all these parts is to send them where?Originally posted by MartyJ1963 View PostHiya Chemelec,,,,,I'm just wondering out of curiosity,,rather than throwing all those components in the garbage, would there be a deal you could do on them? If the price and P&P was affordable to me I could buy them from you? I'm looking for a lot of different components, IC's etc,,,to build a stock pile up for the future as I'm alaways building different circuits to better my learning of electronics. I understand you are about to go on holiday to Cuba so it's ok if you don't reply,,,,,Enjoy you're trip to Cuba. Marty
I am in Canada and Shipping Parts to the USA and other countries is getting more Difficult these days.
Customs are getting PICKY on some things and Mailing Costs are More Expensive now.
Also Depends On What Parts your Interested in.
My Parts are All Analogue types.
Marty, If you Want to Talk, Send me your Phone Number, I have free long distance.
