and thank you to establish (right at the turn of the millennium) this world unique forum in field of metal detecting
as well for dignity and patience and rare seen nice balanced admin.
Your decision to cooperate in forum moderation with Qiaozhi ended in great team, that give us best deep insight
in metal detecting technology in form of ITMD manual (hope not last).
Wish many more years for you and your (as well our) Geotech forum.
Thanks Carl and George for keeping this forum up and running !
To me, this is a never ending source of inspiration and knowledge.
Nowadays, a lot of fora are degrading and eventually dying in favor of other "more modern" social media groups and eventually sub-groups and sub-sub-groups, etc...
I am still in favor of an "old-skool" centralized server based forum - your single stop for gathering all the knowledge you ever wish to acquire about metal-detecting and more !
Thanks again for all your time and effort and keep up the good work !
Much appreciated from Belgium,
- Bernard
This nice little honey-trap caught me long enough and caused me a lot of
anger, arguing and trouble with some "types" here, but this time is over!
On the other hand it was sometimes quite entertaining, though I missed
the real innovative input - this forum seems to got stucked in the 90s.
Seen from the overall forum-job itself you Carl of course will get my
congratulations and you can be really proud of this forum (about the
LRL-lunatic-playground-forum we can talk some other time *laugh*)
together with George, also especially for writing that book - which
sometimes should become translated into other languages, too.
What else to say?
Well, I would keep this little-prize-game in the shape of treasure-hunting -
let the pure random luck decide. You can raise the winning chances for
active guys a bit - compared with real treasure-hunting where those have
more luck which go more often for a search, but you also can leave it at
"plain coincidence"-level.
Because you can't reach me anyway, you can exclude me from this
"Tombola" so others have better chances. Internet forums are not the
best place for giving away personal information, anyway - especially not
if it comes to such a dificile, hot and dangerous topic like treasures !!!
btw. not we are those who should get a price from you Carl but vice versa!
So guys here, make up your mind (not like finding first out on page 3 here
that it is 20 years and not 10 years) and think about some nice present
for C. and Q. - send them your rare antique metal-detectors! *just joking*
Hahaha - funny when I'm thinking back about 1999 - the time when my
"digital internet career" also started. With 56k modem and Windows 98.
Since I'm a treasure-hunter I still have all the files and a big software-
collection from that times on, not to forget about all the game-ROMs
from even much more earlier (Commodore 64, Amiga etc. games).
Seen it "oldschool" this forum is the book #2, with 100.000s of pages
of more ore less worthful information, inspiration or whatever concerning
MDs. Just tooooooo much to read from start to end, meanwhile! *laugh*
To make it short: Thanks Carl & George, stay healthy and don't sit all
day in front of the computer - go out for some nice treasure-hunt!
