Lorenz Pulse 5 - blown transistor

    Hi Mrand. Is transistor T3 the one which I circled in red in this photo: http://prikachi.com/images/85/4779085O.jpg

    Do you know what the other transistor (the one that is back to back with the large capacitor) is and what its role is? It is labeled "B" on the PCB.

      Yes, this is transistor T3. The second element (B) which is close this is the stabilizer -8V ( 7908 ).

        you wrote, what switching off the detector, when unplugged the head cable?

        My first idea is an little micro switcher (similar than printer paper sensor) in the house and around the socket. This switcher is enabled with a little pin. This pin is mounted to plug and must be an little hole in the house. This micro switch is disconnecting the supply when removing the cable plug.

        The my second idea is similar: use an reed-relay tube only (without coil) and a little neodinyum magnet. These parts are similar mounted, without drilling (the magnet is mounted the plug, and reed is mounted in the socket in the your plastic house).

        Other: I m an outsider in the Lorenz, but an little heatshink in the IRF ,,transistor''
        is always good choice.

            What for such combinations? There will be enough to change T3. I know this detector very well.

                Hi Mrand, I replaced the T3 transistor and the detecrtor is in full working order now. Thanks a lot for your help. You obviously know this detector very well.

                Rumcajs: All Lorenz detectors are designed to work only if they have a coil connected to them. As soon as you disconnect the coil, the detector turns off. This is done in the coil connector - two of the pins in the coil connector are wired together - see pic below.

                This is for a small mono coil. The connector wiring is different for 1m x 1m mono coil and for 35cm DD coil, but in all cases, pins 5 and 6 are always connecetd and this is what closes the circuit when you plug in the coil connector into the unit.

                        BINDER connector for all Lorenz detectors frame coil:
                        Pin1 - connected witch MASSE wire
                        Pin2 - Not Connected
                        Pin3 connected with Pin4 and Pin7 and connected witch HOT wire
                        Pin5 connected witch Pin 6
                        This is all

                          AlexP how did you remove the black resin covering the PCB and made it so clean, pcb looks like it hasn't been covered with it?

                            The detector has two PCBs. The outer PCB (which I have pictured) is not covered with resin.
