no need for gold detector.
minipulse will do for me ,i only want to build that as its one of eric's designs, and has the edge on the barracuda.

thanks this is the last detector i'm going to build( you can only use so many), as i dont agree to selling these when compleated i have to stop.

I haven't tested a Barracuda, but compared to a Surf-PI the depth is about the same. However, the Minipulse Pulse seems to be more stable, has a slow self-adjusting threshold (SAT), VCO audio, and a battery warning circuit. Whereas the Surf-PI has a single tone audio that changes in volume depending on the depth of the target, and needs manual threshold adjustment.Originally posted by Koala View PostHi Qiaozhi
Well done for the hard work on the MiniPulse Plus. Looks like it moving forward very quickly
Have you had time to compare with other detectors i.e does this project have the edge over the Baracuda or Surf PI or is it about the same.
A quick video would be much appreciated
I'll leave the video creation to Silverdog.

Embedding a copper trace in the PCB footprint is apparently not the correct way to include duplicate pins in a PCB symbol. Since then I've discovered how to handle these in the library component without any DRC issues, which makes life a little easier.Originally posted by Qiaozhi View PostIt appears that this error was in fact flagged by the DRC report, but I missed it (human error
) as a result of modifying the PCB footprint for the cermet trimmers to add a 4th pin. This extra pin produces a number of clearance errors because of the copper track embedded in the footprint, and the track-to-track error near Q4 was buried in the list.
When the kits become available from Silverdog, the PCBs will have been upgraded to REV-B, so you won't have to worry about correcting any of the errors present in REV-A.

If you've been reading about Chance PI, then you'll know its claimed discrimination capabilities are less than spectacular.Originally posted by mohandes View Postthanks
i think work like chance pi
, so is it deeper like 2box ?
The Minipulse Plus is not designed for very large rectangular coils. You would need to make some modifications to use it in that way.
A 2-box detector is something completely different.

thanksOriginally posted by Qiaozhi View PostI have not posted the PCD CAD files. But for the record, I used Easy-PC.
The Minipulse Plus is a PI, so it does not have ferrous/non-ferrous discrimination. However, by adjusting the Reject pot, you can eliminate small foil and pulltabs.

which software need to open your pcb file?
it have discrimination ?

hiOriginally posted by Qiaozhi View PostWith the trimmer footprints supporting both in-line and staggered pins, it would be easy to fit a 3-pin connector in place of the trimmer, and take this out to an external pot. A better option for sensitivity would be to make R16 externally adjustabele, as this controls the sample pulse width.

I received some sample PCBs from Silverdog last week, and now have a fully working board on the bench. The REV-A build document in currently being written, and in the next couple of days I will send this document to Silverdog, so that he can also complete a working unit. Once this has been achieved, all the information will be uploaded to Geotech, and you will be able to purchase kits from Silverdog shortly afterwards.Originally posted by sinclairuser View Postdid the boards not work out?, sorry for my impatienceAttached Files

Thanks for the transistor replacement information. Looking forward to the documentation when it is completed.
