Problems with fresh built TGSL

looks acceptable coil chu does it sing though some plastic coated and teflon coated sing in circuit its not a bad thing as you can at least hear the circuit is feeding the coil!

I used 0.25mm (core wire dia) tin plated copper wire insulated with plastic.

Plastic insulated wire? Or enameled copper wire.
Plastic coated wire is wrong wire.
If you used plastic insulated wire to make coils, your inductances will be incorrect. The plastic insulation make space between windings, changing the properties of coil.
Have you measured the inductances of your coils? Then how do you know if they are correct?

Cut out not necessary parts of schematics is short time job - why its can not be done in two days? And for me - TGSL work well. As first project where I learned a lot, especially while troubleshooting my own mistakes of course I am glad I did that. I am glad he shared it as it is. I am glad I made so many mistakes - without them I will learn nothing.

Do not know your king cobra, Ill try to figure out your two years of development in winter months. I do not know why I smell injustice from this conversation

0.45 and 0.25 mm are good and must work good.

Built my single layer TGSL based on apberg's design. Power source is 12v transformer
DD coils size 255mm x 137mm, wire is plastic coated wire 0.45mm; inner is tin plated copper wire 0.25mm. Tx 101 turns, Rx 107 turns. It is beeping nice to power connection disconnection. The problems are;

Low distance coverage as it does not detect coins even if placed on coils. Detects 4"x4" copperclad board at 3.5" distance.
Discrimination not working.
GB and DISC pots show changes in scope waves on very ends of their turning.
DISC switch does not seem to be effecting anything but moving the switch produces beep.

In short it is not performing as desired. First it should be sensitive enough to detect coins placed on coil surface.

You are using the wrong wire to make the coils. What you are aiming for is the correct inductances, not the number of turns. The number of turns will only give correct inductances of TX and RX coils if you use correct wire.
You must strictly adhere to the details of the build document. Any variation for you, will be disastrous.

you must do own design. your problem you take aliens' layout thinking all around you are just perfect.

to do it more simplier. so it is compadre or amigo schematic in reality.

full detailed manual how to right tune. and you anyway take to do VLF.
