like making it run off a 24v battery and being able to use 22 volts to the coils lmfao
-
Yes i like that its a hybrid but i want to mess around with it multi colored lcd screen the audio channel for as clear crisp and louder sound and i know raising voltage and current to a magnetic field makes it stronger and of course tuning the coils for that detector and at what khz for what metal like 5khz for silver and because this is advanced is why im interested i could care less if i fry it ill fix burnt traces or even start building waffer boards with heavy duty traces what i dont know is if there is a way to get more voltage and amperage to other chips on the board that have higher voltages then the 40 pin micro

Are you referring to the Voodoo Project, as that's the thread where you've made your first post?Originally posted by SilverSurfer17 View PostHello new here thanks for letting me join also Thanks for the design to monkey with first id like to say ive done some board stuffing soldering and im a Auto Tech so i know some general knowledge of circuits relays what some of the parts do my questions is ive looked over the parts for this board and would i be correct in saying this board is limited to 5.5 volts because of the micro processor when the rest of the ic chips can be pushed to 22 volts or is there some kind of relay or way to use max voltage to these chips without using a transformer type way or using a different chip and coding
Please be aware that Voodoo is an advanced project and not suitable for beginners.

I understand, you wrote that in the book.Originally posted by Qiaozhi View PostIt would be possible to make the PI mode non-motion (with SAT) using additional hardware, but hybrid mode must use double-differentiated motion. If you try to use non-motion the DISC channel will be horribly affected by ground response, and the detector will be unusable. You've only got to test a Viking 5 to see how bad it would be.
Ok, let's just implement non motion in only PI mode.

Motion type PI detector with such binary response is not most happy solution.
Either to make it non motion, either to smooth up the audio response.

I am placing remarks not to offend nor spoil the good mood here; but to provoke more improvements.

Progress bar indication, the "scale". As signal appears and increases; progress bar also to rises.Originally posted by Qiaozhi View Post
Not sure what visual indication would be useful in pulse mode.
Threshold setting is in the menus, but (as I said in the Conclusion) the menus are an area for improvement.
Personally, I think the threshold should be a separate external control. Knobs are easier to twiddle than using a menu system.
Is better anything than nothing.
Also power consumption on the LCD would be nice thing.
But it probably will need additional changes in hardware. Not too complicated i assume.
Honestly i can't tell the difference between various Treshold adjustments.
Potentiometer will do. But also up/down (or +/-) buttons can serve to adjust Sensitivity in working mode.

Yes i think i understand the whole concept and why is done this way.
It is more like educational example. Many things to learn in process of making it.
But considering how huge and respectable effort you put in it... it would be shame to leave it as it is now.
Because is obvious it has lot of potentials and can be turned easy to very serious machine.

I'll have to read again the book and search for how to properly adjust R22.

Don't know what 3.5 is. Never heard of it.

There is obviously a lot of improvement that could be done on this design, but the basic concept works. As you play around with it and make changes you will understand why certain things were done the way they were.Originally posted by ivconic View Post
Q. you opened Pandora's box with this! (or can with worms, pick what you like more)
You will not have peace from this, next several months, i tell ya!

Somehow LCD looks stupid indicating nothing in Pulse mode.
But that's the part probably very easy to add in code.

I don't understand Treshold function here.
I can't easy see the difference.. actually can't see it at all.
Too tired to search in code.
PIC code is pretty much gibberish for me, must take time to learn it.

Ah yes, more remarks i have (will forget until tomorrow).
Pulse mode in motion?
Not serious PI like that. Probably automatic/adjustable SAT will do.
Also audio amplitude should change along with signal changes.
Volume option is missing. Important!
Too "binary" audio. Don't like it.
Maybe if i toss the NE555...?
Yet still will be "binary".
Because you did it like simple switching.
...
That's all by now. These days i will most probably figure out more remarks!
I tried 7660 and it gets hot in several seconds.
LT1054 stays cool.
