Ok, I am guessing the bi-polar pulse will allow the magnetic susceptibility(iron magnetization) to be cancelled. Even so, it should be well gone by the time the SMT1 begins counting.

Cycle 1 reads: Target + Sand
Cycle 2 reads: Target - Sand (after U2b inversion)

No matter whether the microcontroller fires a positive pulse or a negative pulse, the black sand always pushes or drags against the search coil in the exact same physical direction.
Therefore, in pure physical reality, it is always a Positive Addition +V(susc). So in a negative pulse(cycle 2) results in ( -)Target + Sand, and after U2b inversion, the result is Target - Sand.

Maybe I will eventually test 10 microseconds. It is a nice round number.

On a side note, any KC fans out there? I just had a listen to "starless" for the first time. I was blown away. I never knew about KC before.

I might use TS5A3159 for switching the bridge in a final version.

Or even the DG417 for through hole.

The 4053 is always a nightmare for me to route, and a switch is wasted. Besides, there are so many versions, with slightly different specs, some may not work at all.

No, the magnetic response will be the same polarity as the eddy response:

Cycle 1 reads: Target + Sand
Cycle 2 reads: Target + Sand

Ok, yes, I understand now. Thank you for that correction.
