    hi people,

if you have a good technicial skill level and big expirience I need in your help now. I am in stage on preparation of an article on DP and Sniffer for a magazine. all schematic is clear reading for me but I need in detailed description of RX end op-amps and the used principle of integration, subtraction and storage on the op-amps.

magazine fees are very low in our part of world and I hope only on unselfish your help. ugly Russian would be more appreciated but any English will be also not so bad.

forum postings are very uninformative for good material, I regret to say it

    best regards

    SNIFFER XR-71

KT315 , Your research is alway's very accurate . And I respect your work . But we need to find the schematic and circuit-board photo's of the Sniffer XR-6. A "GERMAN P.I. METAL DETECTOR" !!!!! From a German company. A former member of this forum owns a XR-6 . But is no longer an active member of Geotech . All I want now , is just the Sniffer XR-6 information and nothing else . Everything on Delta Pulse , or the Xr-7 , Xr-71 is posted everywhere on Geotech already !!! ......So I am looking forward to any clue's or any information on this "Big Mystery" .....Thank-You.........Bye............Eugene

    Hi Malcolm and all,
Thanks for this Russian website I didn't know about. I found the DeltaP (Delta pulse) to be of interest. I think it shows what Eric was talking about using diodes and sharing the cap and resistor to two monostable multivibrators (one shots) to keep the first and second sample width more are less the same. On my fully adjustable bench step up I actually use the same one shot for both samples, which can be achieved with a few logic gates and a flip flop.
The analog chain on this design is most interesting. Appears to me to be a direct coupled no motion required design, where he is auto nulling the offsets of the amplifiers during the transmit on period. Least thats what it appears he is doing thoughout this chain. But I could be wrong. Anyone else have any comments on this design? Anyone tried this front end amplifier scheme? Or any of the rest of it. Going to have to look at this one a bit longer than most, trying to figure out the up side, down side of what is being done here. Maybe some good ideas for the free design? We should be able to come up with something a bit better than the basic. Maybe several different analog designs.
    JC

dig the oldie logs, people. you will get the history.

I still think Eric was the first... and then somebody cloned the schematic and sold as renewed units... different brand, country.

I say that cause there were really few people with good understanding of PI technology at that time, and schematics is good engineering from an expert.

Seems all informations match to say the Eric's work was copied and adjusted to new, different needs...

Industrial detectors... changed in TH deep machines.

That would not mean who redesigned MD was not good EE or something... just that was a remake of something else, industial device.

    So I agree with you.

    Kind regards,
    Max

    Hi,
no... it isn't. In that PI detector... you just shield the coil if need to use a small one like 8'' or 10'' and then you HOPE will be no ground influence.

It's very unlikely it happens really, expecially in inland soil, really rare you could gain benefits that way.

Usually minerals in soil will totally bust your detector performances you tested on the bench: as example, I made one that can detect 1eur at 40cm on the air using 8'' fast monocoil. It turned out that on 90% of cases the detector cannot detect the 1eur coin at 22cm underground! In some cases even at 20cm, total failure!

Hell, it seems a monster on the bench... but performance on soil are less than a very average VLF (with ground balance), not top VLF.

The MD will AWAYS respond to hot rocks, fired stuff... etc magnetic oriented lump of crystals... with different behaviour: the more the sens on air... the more the magnetic influence and FALSE SIGNALS.

They are not capacitive, cause of the shield effect, but magnetic related.

Though all these limitations, they work excelent on sand... beach and in such places, you have few falses and dig sand easy... so avoid the junk in few time.

I once found a very deep signal with a PI in inland, dug a "well" 80cm !

Was a rusted, piece of a plane bomb...with trigger and everything... half day work to find junk!

That's why I don't like them for inland conditions. Just big waste of time and energy... unless YOU KNOW ALREADY there must be something GOOD there... couldn't be iron trash.

    Kind regards,
    Max

    Hi All,

Interesting that the layout and board shown, is identical to that designed for the Eurodec and Woodtec detectors by Pulse Technology Ltd.

If anyone is interested, I have three boards, loaded with resistors, capacitors, diodes and transistors, but without IC's. The boards are used and untested, and in good condition. All IC positions are socketed, so it's just a matter of plugging them in. Email me at [email protected]

    Eric.

I think Aban might be give us the light, not GG. but clear theirs designs were only RE-designs from one some source we are not aware of now.

Or simply ... a bulgarian made reverse eng. of it... and draw schematic ?

    What do you think ?

This is the reason that i say that Eric made first the Xr71. Maybe i make mistake..... but this is the reason that we write here!! to find the true
