Guys, I screwed up. I thought you should know I made a mistake about the battery packs. I was building transport cases for the detectors, and while making the holders for the battery packs, I realized one was for only 6 AA batteries. The other was for 8. The one with 8 was in the 900, and the 6 was in the 1200. The previous owner may have switched them, which is what I suspect. I thought I should let you know. As far as I can tell, both detectors run OK. But, I'm going to put the 8 cell pack in the 1200, and the 6 cell in the 900. I suspect that's how they're supposed to be. Both packs were wrapped with tape, to hold the batteries in, and I just glanced at them and assumed they were both 8-cell packs.
      Best,
      Jim

Here's pics of how I repaired the 900's transmit coil. I bought a 12" length of 1 1/4" I.D. aluminum pipe. Put it in the mill and bored 1 1/4" holes in it to make perfect joints. Then sliced the pieces lengthwise so they'd fit over the original tube. Drilled clearance holes so the rivets in the original tube could be accessed when necessary, and MIG welded the sections together. Glued them to the original mast and stub with JB Weld epoxy. I think it turned out pretty good, and a stronger joint than from the factory. I tried the detector and it works great!

Hi Jim nice work... but why have you not bought right away a T-pipe connector in a hardware store? Something like this in the picture below.

Because I wasn't aware of it...LOL. But, mine is stronger, and covers a greater area, MAX. And, I always think of making things first.
