and thank u don i have waited u to replaying,but u say "it would be much to noisy to actually use it that way" no problem in that,i will use it in area free of people,in my country all places that have monuments and remnant it's like a desert,my TGSL can detect 1ero coin about 30cm in soil,but i want to make it more deeply like your TGSL in that video,just tell me specifications of the coil that you used,and anything will happen i will take responsibility.

As far as the coil goes, Just build per Ivconics coil making .pdf in the TGSL complete details section.. or, see post 819 here:

I think using mylar for shielding material may offer some advantages.

ok....i will make my schematic like that u modified on it,but u mean no problem if i use coil that making by Ivconics (6mH/6.5mH)?or your coil is different?
and u right mylar is better

I will add my two cents worth about the TGSL. I have been using the Ivconic version on a daily basis for about two months. It has taken a while to really understand the TGSL but this is normal with any detector. The 8 inch DD coil I made is a very good compromise between depth, weight and picking up tiny objects.

As Don has said, the TGSL discriminates very well. All you need to do is search a small area in all metal mode and hear all the signals and chatter. Then switch to discriminate mode and go back over the same area while trying various DISC setting. There is a huge difference in the amount of signals you pick up.

I prefer to run the gain high enough so the detector is right on the edge of background chatter. When the coil is parallel to the ground it runs pretty quiet however when I set the detector down for recovering a target, it will chatter more because the coil has change orientation to the ground. The commercial detectors I have will do the same thing when Sensitivity is set high. I added a threshold control to and did the dfbowers mod for sensitivity. This seems to be a good combination for taming it down for the actual conditions.

As Don and Dave have said, it is not a depth monster but I have dug many coins in the six inch depth range and the signals were so strong I know it will go a couple inches deeper. I just have not put the coil over them yet. This detector will do well over 12 inches on an air test which I do not feel is too bad for an 8 inch coil.

I managed to keep the weight of this detector to just over three pounds and am able to swing it for a lot longer than any of my other detectors. This is a big deal for me since I had rotator cuff surgery a few years ago and still have problems with my shoulder.

Bottom line is I am finding just as much stuff with the TGSL as I have with any of my other detectors which is all that counts in the long run.

At the moment, I am in process of building a TGSL-EDU and also at the same time a modular one which will let me experiment with it circuit by circuit. Will report results of those projects when I have something to say about them.

Yep, the TGSL work great with 8" coils! Also, I like to keep in mind the "right tool for the right job". I hunt a site that has many brass relics and I generally find more with the TGSL than my other detectors.

I have settled on a 9" coil lately because it too is a compromise. It does very well with low conductors like small military buttons.

12CM X 22CM for 1 "D" - 106 turns Tx and 111 turns Rx. Inductances stay the same.

thanks.....and i wondering, what's the difference between picture n1 and n2? i think that the current must be like picture n1 because in picture n1 is same magnetic field in the middle (but different on the sides), and in picture n2 magnetic field will be the same direction on the sides and different in the middle,i think that can be effect,what u think?

I think of it this way. Only the Tx coil will have current and it will be alternating at 14.5kHz with the TGSL. The Rx coil will be in an "induction balance" state, so normally, no current flowing at all. - The portion of the Rx coil inside the overlap sees one polarity and the portion outside see the opposite (at any instant in time). Metal entering the field will distort the induction balance state and the Rx coil will then "See" the Tx magnetic field.

yes i forgot this part that RX coil influenced by TX coil current,and with regard to 9" coil it's really good, my TGSL become different from the previous with that schematic and this coil,good disc and depth (40-45+) that's what i need,thank u all

just i have one problem in my TGSL,i think the resonance frequency between TX and RX incorrect (phasing is off),how can i fix it and make RX signal lagging the TX signal by 20 degree.

Make sure that your coils are nulled properly and change the value of C6.

Depends what the value of C6, C1, C2, L1 and L2 are to begin with.
