KT, you did not understand how Dooley's solution worked and you wanted proof. It was not enough that he said it worked - you had to insult him by implying he was an idiot.

That is not emotion - its just nastiness!

          entertainment gained by provocation,
and by reacting to such provocation we perpetuate the entertainment.
it is our fault for continuing to amuse.

basterdized drawing is yet more entertainment.

KT315. It wasn't my circuit and I had no intention of insulting you (again?) - I was just stating a fact as I saw it.

But if your circuit is the best you can do, perhaps it is you who needs to read the books.

OK guys, calm down. Take a deep breath and .... relax.

I downloaded a pdf that explains how to add speakers to hearing protectors with pot in each ear muff to adjust sound, whats wrong with that, or buy a set that are made for schools with volume control in ear muffs, i found a link where they are cheap, i will try and find it.

                          Audio Limiter
                          For Metal Detector
One of the improvements for the CS6PI was to lower the resistor Value connected to headphone socket, this made weak signals easier to hear , but loud signals became uncomfortably loud.
This circuit was developed for the Cscope CS6PI metal detector to limit the audio output, to allow faint sounds to be heard , but limit loud sounds to a comfortable level.
This circuit could be useful for other Analogue detectors where faint sounds indicate a weak signal.
This circuit uses germanium diodes to clamp the audio to 0.3 V , but this was still too uncomfortably loud on strong signals , therefore and extra series resistor was added.
