Why you said not to work with TIP32C?
    What are the diferences?
My surfmaster is working very stable, buy sensitivity still poor, a 24mm in diameter coin is just detected at 14 to 15 cms. The coil was made from 0,25 mm wire, and the target selected was a 24mm copper coin, here are my expirencies:

DIMETER TURNS WIRE INDUCTANCE RESISTANCE RESULTS
    21 19 0,25 279,8 uH 5,2 16 cms
    21 20 0,25 313,7 uH 5,3 13 cms
    21 22 0,25 343,2 uH 6,5 14 cms
    21 23 0,25 372,4 uH 6,0 14 cms
    21 24 0,25 406,5 uH 6,1 14 cms
    21 26 0,25 498,8 uH 6,8 14 cms
    21 27 0,25 538,3 uH 7,0 15 cms
    21 28 0,25 575,8 uH 7,0 16 cms
    21 29 0,25 617,4 uH 7,6 14 cms
    21 30 0,25 664,4 uH 7,6 13 cms

I tried to set margin on this chart, but was imposible. Anyway to read it, you should follow the correct text and number order or get the file below

I hope this can help someone.
Measurements were made with Atlas LCR, model LCR40, that is very accurate.
The detector hold the same conditions for al test.
I forgot, i didn´t find IRF9640, so i used IRF 9630.Could this affect power or sensitivity?

    Regards

    Nelson

    Tks

Hello Massimo , I made the parts list From the original schematic , not from the PCB !!
And when I posted I told everyone to please Re-Check the parts list , because it might not be 100% correct . It is just to give a general idea of what is needed to build the circuit. The only way to have a accurate parts list , is if we are able to extract the parts list from a 100% correct Sprint lay-out file of this PI metal detector....Did you know there are now 3 versions of this Surf PI Metal Detector ? On this Geotech Forum are several schematics with more than one version . Example : Like the Golden Sabre Full version , ApBergs Goldy , Ivconics Golden Sabre Light 1265............If you have spare time , you are welcome to correct or improove the parts list............Thank-You.................Regards............Eugene52

Original coil 23 cm, 20 turns, 0.5 mm wire.
I use 25 cm coil 19 turns, 0.5 mm wire. (good)
I tested 20 cm, 24 turn, 0.5 mm wire. (discrete)

1 euro air detect 23-25 cm. (25 cm coil)
    Excuse my english.

I have PCB file, request only PVT message or e-mail

And the answer to your question is : they are both P-channel power mosfets , the IRF 9640 has better specs . If the IRF9630 is all you have , then use it but it may fail , because the current rating is much lower , see the pdf files[courtesy of fairchild semiconductor] ............Regards..................Eugene52

    Hi Ivconic.
Same has me, i just build the pcb, mount the components and started to play.
Yes , i think the best way to set it up, is to pass a coin over the coil, and adjust boths trimmers until you get the best performance.
Also i can see that this long pcb, is the surfmaster pro, cause it has the 15uS mod on it. if i m wrong, please let me know.
About the pcb, here you can find a one side pcb that i think will meet your requirements.
Here i will re-post the files that got.
Rigth now i ll go make my coil, so after a few tries i ll post my results.
    Regards
    Nelson

How to adjust those...well i did that pretty skimly using "subjective sense".
Just swing with coin over coil and turn trimmers to gain best result. That's what i did.
Just recently i realised that this long pcb does not suit my demands, conditions and packings...so, i would like to draw my own pcb to match exact dimensions and to suit enclosures i have available here.
But...this what i made is modified version, i dont have accurate schematic of it. Pretty occupied to trace pcb and draw schematic....hmmmm.
Is there right schematic for this modified Surfmaster?
Would be nice if someone post that here...

Hi Ivconic, today i just finish Whites Surfmaster Pro.
My question now is, how to setup offset and delays pots?
I admit that i only played with the circuit with a small coil, not tune for surfmaster. Indeed, i don´t know his inductance and even his resistance, but the circuit it does work, so tomorrow, i ll make a good coil.
It really looks to me that this detector it will work very goodl

    Hi Eugene.
Nice pictures . Yes i agree that when you make a metal detector, is very important that you keep access to all important controls of every machine.
My sufmaster is under construction and i m planning to place the circuit inside of a PVC tube.
If all goes good, i m planning to make more units in diferent cases. Experimenting is such fascinating thing i like to do.
I don´t know Nevada, but i lived in Missisippi, Sacramento and Bethesda, Maryland in 1980 thru 1982.
My english is not good by know, but i do the best i can.
    KIng regards

We should do that here for this Surf PI !!!.......................Regards..........Eugene
