Thanks to the friends of the forum. The connection of the LCD is incorrect, as mentioned in the previous post.
    Besides my LCD damage.
The performance is not very good.
I am using the PIM-2 version, 05. Published by mrtronik and indeed the counter always shows 500.
Early tests indicate that performance can be improved by replacing R20 for a preset 10K. Adjust the preset, to decrease the resistance, for maximum gain while maintaining stability.
    Regards.

Good work jose! Can you share the distance of your test? And please update how this machine work on real field..thanks

solved problems yesterday before shooting my first rockets

silkscreen on pcb was a bit confusing i thought i can conect like the numbers on the pin header from 1-16 direct to lcd from 1-16

but i found solution as i looked on schematic after info from samii , first connecting the data lines, then power supply, led supply and lcd contrast

    detectors works

first test indoor with 45cm coil gave me with basic setting 45-50cm for a simple brass belt buckle

i will give you short explanation how to connect pcb to lcd next days, video will follow too

you can buy pre-programmed µcontroller from them, latest firmware is v10

detector is not bad, desgin ist easy and powerfull if you look the parts
also it are not many parts, pcb is small and easy to build

so the last things i have to to is debugging my version so that i works with lcd, the supply part is ok but i suppose the data lines are changed betwenn my board layout and the latest firmware
maybe i will look at the other concept pcb (the bigger one) and copare how the lcd is connected there
    Dear Bernte_one

I'm not too sure if your LCD problem that you are experiencing at the moment is related to a problem I had about 3 years ago when I built the Delta Pulse 2+ when I was getting 'garbled characters' on my LCD.

In one of my previous posts on Thunting.com concerning that LCD problem that I had, I mentioned that the reason why some LCDs are not working very well is the result of using an LCD module from a different manufacturer. For example, with some of these LCD modules, only garbled letters appeared on the top row of LCD screen (that was also happening in my case). This situation occurs when one uses the LCD models WH1602b (Winstar), DEM16216, GDM1602A or LMB162GDC (Topway).

This situation can be much improved without changing the software (hex file), but by using a different LCD model, such as ACM1602S (American Zettler Inc), MC1602J-SYL (Everbouquet) or DV-20400 (Data Vision). The 'funny garbled characters' that sometimes appear on the top row of the LCD have been reported by many experimenters (especially those who have built the Delta Pulse 2 Detector) on some of these forums.

I solved my problem by using an LCD module from a different manufacturer (apparently some cheaper Chinese-made LCD modules are 'not fast enough' to receive data from the microprocessor. As Altra has mentioned some time ago in the Geotech1 forum concerning the same problem: quote "A common problem encountered with charactor LCDs is a difference in initialization times. Certain brand LCDs are faster than others".

I hope this helps someone to solve their LCD problems when building and testing their PIM-2 detector.

    Ciao

The pin numbers shown above refer to the connector on the PIM-2 PCB. All LCDs have pin 15 = LED(-), and pin 16 = LED(+). The pin numbers then run from 1 to 14 (instead of pin 3 to 16).

    Just a thought ...
Not all LCDs have the same pinout. Some are labelled 1 to 16, and others are labelled 16, 15, and then 1 to 14. There doesn't seem to be any consistent standard for these LCDs, and the connector can be in any position on the PCB, can have all 16 pins in one line, or with a 2X8 configuration on one edge.
Looking in my archive, I see in one photo for the PIM-2 that the connector is a 1x16 in the bottom left.

    Dear BernteOne,

I noticed that on the July 10, 2015 you commented 'publically' about a PIM-2 video which appeared on YouTube and you asked Mr M-usta-fa the following question:

"Hello Mustafa, can you say me which Software Version you have planned for the small pcb you have pulblished for PIM-2, i like the board design and would start to Flash my Atmel chip next days. I have Software vers. 6 - would this work?"

I have two questions for you, Mr BernteOne:

    1) Did you ever receive a reply from Mr M-usta-Fa concerning the use of Software vers. 6 - when you asked him "... would this work?"
    2) I don't understand your new question to Mr M-usta-Fa... what is 'original controller v10 firmware? You mean software (hex file), perhaps? ...Please explain...
I have not heard of v10 firmware (or software)

Do you think that Mr M-usta-Fa (author) will answer your question?...I have not seen him participate in this forum (Geotech1), unless I'm wrong and he is using an Avatar which I don't know about!

I would also like to build the PIM-2 pulse induction metal detector, but as jladre so rightfully says..."No good detector. Prigrammable but so many part."

...very confusing to say the least!...

    Thanks.

hello today i have finished pim2 mustafa pcb version with original controller v10 firmware
detector works and it is very sensitiv but i have problems with lcd display seems that data lines connection from this firmware does not fit to mustafa layout ???

led background light flashes a little bit some kind of unstablity or wrong commands send?
using potentiometer for contrast brings no better results so problems seem at data lines
i have checked all wire connection from pcb to lcd i have connected like on the pcb layout

i can set threshold with pushbuttons (but without looking lcd) and the rest seems to work but i cant do any system menue settings without working lcd
need some help from author PLEASE

    Hi Davis9000

Another question like yours but to be more specific...

Has someone built PIM-2 with PCB Schematic Revision04 and software v05? How well does it work?

Is there, perhaps, a PCB Schematic Revision05 available that can be used with software v05?
I personally have not seen a Schematic Revision05 (PCB) on any of the PI metal detector forums (Geotech1, Lugatek, TeknolojiEkibi etc.),
but was mentioned by Japanese a while ago, under the heading: 'Frequent questions for PIM-2ver05'.
If there is one available, could that person please post it here on Geotech1.

I read somewhere that Schematic Revision06 (PCB) can only be used with software v06 hex file.

Notice also that the word 'Revision' (NOT version) applies only to the Schematic, but that 'Version' applies to the Software (Hex File).
Please DON'T confuse us with these two terminologies - I know that there is a slight translation problem when Turkish language is translated to English.

    Thanks.
