When you take close-up photos, you should switch to "macro" mode on your camera, otherwise the images will be out of focus. If you do not have a macro mode, then try placing the boards on a scanner.

Hi Orbit,

Because the tops of the caps are in focus, maybe the problem is not focus but instead not enough depth of field because not enough light and also slow shutter blur. Use very bright light (sun light) to take pics. Also, move back -- if your digital has good resolution, will still be OK.
