    Hello Olabec,

    Why do you need an SMD version of the project? It would do the same thing, but it's more difficult to solder.​

    You will need to use an oscilloscope to debug the problem.
    The only adjustable pots are the sample delay, null offset for the preamp, and the audio threshold. None of these have any effect on the flyback voltage.

    I'm a bit stuck again. Before beginning construction the coil seemed fine, about 20cm strongish signal for a £1 coin but now I've mostly put it together this has fallen to closer to 2cm!

    I'm really confused as the voltages seem OK. Although I can't seem to change the flyback voltage from the potentiometer on the pcb but its showing at -182v.     That would require significant changes, especially to the power supply domains. Best to stick with PMOS.

    I've powered the Arduino Nano with a lithium battery pack of several occasions with no magic smoke being released.
    I suspect you have some poor quality / dodgy devices.
    Just a small update - it was the cheap clones. Using a legitimate nano solved my issues

    if its useful to anyone I got the first 2 from Tayda (1 worked fine for a while) the second 2 I got from kunkune that started smoking straight away

    I have 3s Li-ion NCR18650B for the power. The voltage coming from them is 12.34V do you think this is too much for the nano to handle?

    That input voltage should be perfectly OK for the Arduino Nano. The User Manual says 12V, but that's the nominal voltage.
