yes I have read through the thread, there is nowhere on the alex/ap rev2 board to solder the switch to, the delay pot is easier it replaces the link to the right of the delay trimmer.
As Q5,R26,R37 and SW1 has been removed from the board, it should really be printed as rev3 not rev2, the rev2 still has these holes in pcb.

    Hello Tonyh,

Glade to hear your building the Bara, Silverdog's kit is excellent. what I suggest you do is read through all the threads from the start. You'll find the answers to all questions, plus a ton of tips that will help you build a successful sensitive Bara. I built the Bara about a year ago and it works fabulous, a killer beach machine indeed.

    Best regards,

Im building a Baracuda kit from Silverdog, what is the SPST switch for? and where does it attach?
Also If I want to add a delay pot, where does this attach to on the board?

Hello Wilson. At several places in the forum you write that you made modifications in the scheme. I look at the photos in posts 725 + 750 and next to a LED I see diode 4148, which I think is reversed. Is this one of modifications, you're talking about?

    Well done Sinclair
I also have some very good results and will update you soon with some tips that are useful plus pictures.
Best results with 1.5" coil is 4" depth 18ct thin lady's ring and 5" for pre 37 old sixpence which is amazing considering it was made round a toilet roll with old alarm wire.
    Regards

antonio please make a testing hour and check all pcb components on the coil section and lok if they get hot (damping resistor, tip127...)

MY baracuda legend is firing up Woop Woop .

Okay BIG thank you to Bob the Man I love you top man very helpful and help got my DM working.
I must say that if there is anyone out there with a baracuda which is not working the chances are its the same problem I had.
All I did was blow the little speaker that came with my kit and it was shorting the audio circuit hence stopping any sound hay take a look you never know remove it and wire in a small set of cheap ear phones to carry out the test best of luck DUDS.....

the chip sockets idea is also very good advice, you can always remove them as final task when you finish(if you like your chips hard soldered),
i have never been convinced it matters, what matters more is the quality of the sockets.
even the cheapest sockets will work for your task, when you have 4 chips that work and you have basic function you can remove them and install the working chips permanently.
i just found the problem after so many hours it is working no heat anymore in 7660 dead cold it was a short circuit in pcb .....my god!!!!i need some sleep .but i have two questions when i turn the swicth on i mesure the frequency from the output were the coil is for and is stable when i turn the thershold pot it is changing the frequency is this write???and the second question is the 2 trimmer 22k wich potision is write to put it how many kohm?

Antonio, try replacing the CI 40106 and if possible install a socket, if the voltage of +5 volts and-5volts not normalize remove the IC NE5534 and check the voltages without it, repeat the procedure also for the IC LF412.
NOTE: Each IC socket install removed to facilitate testing and replacements.
If these steps do not resolve it is possible that the ICL7660 IC is damaged.

if you must use 12v you need the irf fet and 7660a or 7660 sc but even then its just wasted power imho the barracuda was intended to run at 9.6v 8x1.2 AA rechargeable you can use six AA 1.5v high power alkaline giving 9v(thats what i did and it runs fine dont rate rechargeables in detectors that take separate aa cells).
pp3 9v batts just dont work well in fact the difference between 2x 9v pp3(9v config) and 6x 1.5 duracell extra were worlds apart in my own tests so i went that route irf fet and 7660a/sc is definatley the way to go as that has the most flexable power range 9v-13v.
I use the 7660a-cpaz what about it;iget heat i double check the tracks no circuit
