GOLDSCAN 5 SCHEMATIC QUESTION

for me channel 2 would be useful on the dry sand to reject some iron and also good for inland...of course for pure depth on wet sand the channel 2 should be switched off.Originally posted by eclipse View PostOrbit that's needed only if mineralisation is too high and you can't get it to work properly.
Normally you wouldn't want to use channel 2 (GB) cos it will result in less depth for sure.
It's better to have it and not need than to not have it and need it
The board is 2Layer + TH plating, silk screen, without solder mask cos it's too damn expensive (I will make it my self - I have UV paint),
150x100 - and it came to my door at the 4th day for 20$ total. It's a local company that doesn't work on the foreign market.
I just didn't want to make 2 layer board that needed to have TH plating, and don't have time to wait from China.
5 boards like these with good quality with DHL will come to 100$ for 10 days.. but this is just a proto board, I already found a mistake in my drawings

Dave this is not the default schematic.
I'm using minipulse PSU, integrators like in the GS5 (GS6 - aka serbian goldscan),
all timings controlled by PIC processor (don't yet know the correct timings so I would need to experiment),
experimental snubber (wanted to see any diff if any), 2 stage preamp, similar to GS5, 2 pots for TX width & delay.
Possibly not working at all
Will see.

Wowww you have big challenge there to get that working !! ive started my project but im a bit slow in doing things cause of my mind problems...but i hope to get there in the endOriginally posted by eclipse View PostDave this is not the default schematic.

hi dave, just stick with it mate you will get there in the end, set your table/bench some where bright and comfortable, put it where you can do a few hours and leave it alone if you get frazzled.
when you are ready again sit down and get stuck in, thats how i do it now, three hours then have a break and do other stuff, i can pick it up or put it down so i get the most work done without burning out.
good luck, quite a few people watching the gold scan 5, hoping for a sorted circuit.

Hi sinclairuser....ive started making my gs 5 project but at present come to a stop cause of my low mental mood...just cant pick up the soldering iron and do anything...i really want to have a working gs 5 but maybe its going to take some time..i really wish that i had a ready made pcb with normal components which would have been a lot easier for me...but its not an option for me at present....have you made a working gs 5 ???Originally posted by sinclairuser View Posthi dave, just stick with it mate you will get there in the end, set your table/bench some where bright and comfortable, put it where you can do a few hours and leave it alone if you get frazzled.

no mate fell out of love with pi's, currently building a raptor (itmd vlf project), i built a minipulse plus and it works great but the lack of discrimination is a big deal for me, i dont think i can build a better pi than that.Originally posted by daverave View PostHi sinclairuser....ive started making my gs 5 project but at present come to a stop cause of my low mental mood...just cant pick up the soldering iron and do anything...i really want to have a working gs 5 but maybe its going to take some time..i really wish that i had a ready made pcb with normal components which would have been a lot easier for me...but its not an option for me at present....have you made a working gs 5 ???
the complete designs are just not there, i know some people think eric should just post the details of the g5, but the fact he has not not done so leads me to the conclusion he cant due to some contractual limitations.
just because he designed it does not mean he can do what he likes with it, he may have had to agree to not develop it further when whites brought out the tdi, who knows its possible, there may even be someone developing a true gs6 with his consent for commercial sale.
i dont know i'm just speculating, what ever the reason the only way to get one is to buy one or build one yourself, which brings me back to the mpp even a gs5 would not be any better for me in my application, so i build stuff that will.

Simply ,I bought the original design GS 4 analyzing to the detail of the sequence every, detail It's very easy to build GS 5 as well as TDI of course in their own way If it's well understood how it works It's easy to work more design with 2 channels as well as with 4 channels in order to fill shortcomings wherein 2-channel Individual targets inserted in tons of iron It's possible to do a lot point of balance determined tones you also have sd 2000
on the basis of it you can do multiple versions . Otherwise Eric I do not believe will give any information about anything related GS 5 he probably has his reasons ?!
Of course my advice is think with your head and you will find solution and you will be a lot happy with your unique solution !

from what i heard from someone white's are not going to develop the tdi platform anymore...most of the gs 5 schematic is posted on here anyway...does not seem white's care about that schematic posted on this site...although gs 5 and tdi are the best pi detectors in my view they are still a minority market so its not really a big deal.Originally posted by Orbit View PostSimply ,I bought the original design GS 4 analyzing to the detail of the sequence every, detail It's very easy to build GS 5 as well as TDI of course in their own way If it's well understood how it works It's easy to work more design with 2 channels as well as with 4 channels in order to fill shortcomings wherein 2-channel Individual targets inserted in tons of iron It's possible to do a lot point of balance determined tones you also have sd 2000

The true GS6 was developed 5 years ago. Two versions made, although the lighter one was never completed. A bit different to the GS5 as it used the lapsed Paltaglou patent. Worked just fine and excellent GB but ran out of time to continue. The differential coil set-up was to cancel emi, but I found that it was not really necessary. Still have both and still no time due to a long legal battle on another matter. We won the case so it is now costs and damages to sort out which will take another year.Originally posted by sinclairuser View Postthere may even be someone developing a true gs6 with his consent for commercial sale.

I'm trying to recover GS5 data, much of which was on a computer HD that failed, so watch this space. One bit of info to get the ball rolling - the minimum sample delay was 10uS; all sample pulses are 15uS and the delay from the end of the 1st sample to the start of the GB sample was 5uS.

Hi Dave,
Yes, it would have if I completed it. The big box GS6 has an inlet air filter and an extractor fan to keep the internal heatsink on the TX down to a reasonable temperature; and of course the rest of the electronics. The one in the foreground has a large heatsink under the box.
Look out for a PM.
Eric.
