Hi,Geo!Everything is OK.This pcb without 555 work as you described.My pcb work so too.I don`t like sound at all.I have finished 555 pcb but not tested yet.My friend has made pcb with 555 and he has big depths and very good sound.I think that 555 is the best variant.

Try to sort the C26. Sound becomes more good (not 555 version)

Bluemax has Tx =540uH and Rx = 33mH.
Also Tx and Rx are not in phase.

Finally i found the solution but have another problem.
I reversed the Tx signal again.... and i made a new calibration of the Phase, Geb and total phase potentiometers and now is ok.
It full rejects a piece 10cm of ferrite rod, also don't beep at iron and it is good on gold and copper.
But i lost depth!!!!!
It detects a 30mm coin at 40cm, no good depth for a 15" coil.
Yesterday when it was unstable it detected the same coin at 50+cm.....
Also it detects the soda can at 75cm compared to 1m yesterday.
Sound is worst ..... when the signal is strong it beeps OK, but when it is a medium or small then it beeps interrupted. Maybe i must replace it with the 555. Also it needed a fine tuning of the coil.
Maybe tommorrow if i will have free time

You must change the value of C9, how? I am not
sure, I think it would be good 6n8. Capacitor and
potentiometer, which are already added, in this case you should
remove.

You did a turn phase for DISC and GEB, your ideas
need to do only for the DISC.

Hi Magma.
As i remember by a George Payne article, the Geb must be about 2...3 degrees positive compared to the Rx signal.If so, i am OK. But i am not sure!!!!

First i believe that there is not problem with my Coil!!!!
Second.... what has the Geb waveform??, and what i can do??
I see it as good.....
