Interference through the transformer from the mains causes noise at the amplifier output and therefore the sensitivity of the instrument has to be reduced very much. Normal sensitivity is achieved with battery power

My circuit does not include the MC34063 because it is very noisy in operation - this reduces the sensitivity of the device by many times raising the trash threshold.
But the first pass of the flame only checks the current through the coil.
You have to check +12v power supply, resistors R1,R5,R9,R13,R14, transistors T1 and T2

The MC34063 is very noisy. I think this is going to be a problem. Unfortunately, I don't have the opportunity to do the hobby and draw a new board at the moment.

An MT3608 or similar can be used.

Friend eddy i have DIP PCB WITH LARGE MC34063 AND TL072 AND PIC16F1824 . NOT SMD . I HAVE less component smd .

Using DIP parts will severely limit your choices. Have you tried the MC34063? Did it produce the correct output voltage?

I am testing a pcb out on the bench with a 12volt power supply and a 3,3v regulator on the pcb, it works just fine, but taking outside might present some problems

have you tried powering your pcb with 12volts ?

you claim you get a flashing led, it could be a voltage problem or an interference problem, removing the switcher IC... can limit the possible problems.
if the detector works on a good clean 12volt source we can the focus on how to fix your detector. All we know at the moment is it does not work and you're not sharing any pictures. So there is little we can do to solve the problem ?

making coils? is it possible to use plain enameled wire for a PI detector. if so what thickness (dia) should I order ?
