Just for Curosity, I tried a 50Khz crystal in this circuit.
Works Well also. See Picture.

Sorry For the Slightly LARGE Crystal. Its a Dual crystal of 32Khz and 50Khz, +/- 0.001%. out of a Watch Timing Machine for OLD Mechanical Watches.

By the way, Typical Non-Resonance Current Draw of this circuit is about 90 mA. with a 15 volt supply.
Sorry, Forgot to Look at it When I had it in Resonance one time.

Not Sir and Not Chemelec.
Chemelec was my Company Name, Before I retired.

As to using a More Modern IC such as a TL084, I really Doubt there would be any Advantage because of the LOW Frequency (2,048Hz) and relativel Low gains that are used in this circuit.

But its not a Problem if you want to use that TL084.

Mostly I was just interested in developing a Circuit board for this, so others can build it more easy.

gary, say me please, my question is ? if is possible one detector can work very well, whit your signal, box to box (in air),whit mesure 10 metres distance , or can have noises to ground? or other problems? what is the limite or maxime distance for one detector two boxs in air?
is these distance extreme, only for radiocomunications?

this is the noise, this is the problems, this is the maxime distance etc. - WHAT DO YOU WANT, detectorman?! SIMPLY DO IT FOR SELF AND YOU WILL GET UP ALL YOUR ANSWERS!!!

TR locator

Hi Gary.
Ok is nice to heard that about my PCB. This was transfer to a laser printer and after that i use a combination of two chemicals to remove copper. The result was a nice PCB.
About the free board, i whant to thank for that. Indeed if i have success with this detector i ll make another one to go threasure hunting with my son.
The only think i can´t get by now is the meter (hard to find here). But Geo tool me that this detector will work without it.

Hi, I suggest you go to my Website to the Calculators.

Just use the "Revised Inductance Calculator" to determine the winding for a 15 mH Coil of the diameter you want.
Any wire gauge between 24 and 28 AWG should be fine.
Possibly 8 to 16 Inch Diameter.

The Coil really isn't that critical because you need to tune it with the Capacitors. That is the More Difficult part.

My Coils were really Small, But I'm not actually interested in making a Fully Working detector.
Just trying to help you guys out.
