    Hi,
when stuff are close could be a problem... but just in very trashy sites you have such cross between e.g. coins and old rusty nails etc...

Civil war scenario... many fields are this way.

In that cases I suggest you try with Lobo w/concentric coil or other MD cause TGS/TGSL with DD is general purpose stuff... can't do anything good.

If things are apart and distant a few... is not big issue. Device works as good as without iron near. As explained.

It's common drawback of such designs have finite recovery... and thus missing stuff when iron near... but some are better than others.

If you consider also that TGS was designed for nugget hunting... you can figure out why cannot be compared to "trash" digesting machines...

    Kind regards,
    Max

Same. When junk is nearby it doesn't affect recovery speed much at TGSL.
But when junk is near coin (holding pliers with coin togather) than detection is worse, of course. Worse for 30-50% (15-25cm on coin) depends of junk mass and position related to coin. Best recovery speed i saw so far is at XP GoldMax Power (18kHz). TGSL is on second place, of course this is relative, i can talk only about models i tested so far.

    Dear friends
is there any metal detector can identify targets properly i kno there are many many ID metal detector but i want to hear from you.
by the way i have oredered minelab muskerte advantage pro from kellycodetectors.com so what is yor opinion???

    kind regrads

My TGSL work good some chatter from time to time but when trying to reject pulltab also it does reject Gold???? another thing it cannot reject rusty bottle tap some nuts only rejects Iron
    frequency is 15.2Khz
detection depth for single 1,7cm silver coin around 20cm in disc mode
    abit more in all metal..
can i use a single channel scope to connect RX to get right phase

    please help

    best regrads
I have real Tesoro Compadre with similar performance - it also will detect rusty objects like bottle caps often, certain steel washers, etc.

Rejecting pulltabs does reject gold on most Tesoro detectors. One technique is to set disc lower to accept gold, then when get signal, turn higher to see if pulltab or gold. But never trust completely, dig often.

If you have external trigger on scope, you can use single channel scope to see phase of RX signal -- put trigger on TX oscillator signal.

However, as Ivconic says, nulling is best by testing with coin and making small adjustments near the minimum voltage.

Another way to get correct null phase is to first get minimum voltage (with scope or voltmeter), then measure voltage on capacitors C15 and C12. These voltages should be positive. If your null phase is wrong, they will be negative. Change the null slightly until those voltages positive.

    Regards,

    Hi,
it's normal if you try to reject aluminium things you reject also gold: have similar phase angle...

My advice don't try aluminium rejection at all. Disc is useful just to ignore iron and a few other metals, unwanted... but not aluminium.

I know... you'll dig cigarette paper/foil, pulltabs, cans and all the rest but consider that aluminium trash you probably could live with.

    Real pain is iron/steel....

    Kind regards,
    Max

    kind regrads
00.6 is excellent. Yet, must be something else very wrong? What?
Ok...than rebalance it to achieve 3-4mV, and let's see if there are any differences...
Are you sure you wired up coil-cable-connector-detector on proper way?
Search back the pages and look for proper wirements.
I am not able to help you on that, sorry!
    Regards!

    Ok...metaldetector107;
here is what i want you to do!

Disconnect ONLY RX wires from your detector and connect those on digital multimeter. Switch multimeter to AC~200mV range. Switch ON detector. And measure residual voltage. Than post here.
See on posted sketch bellow, it is how should be done.
Post what you measured here and we will see what to do... OK?

    Dear Ivconic
the problem is i cannot reject ointmet tube and knives!!!
TGSL this time very stable only chatter from time to time
and i can reject pliser nail pulltab totaly only problem with ointmet tube and knives any suggestions please.
another problem is i am using a 8cm long ferreit from Radio antenna it dos reject it totaly around 5cm but abit lower it sound i mean about 2,3,4cm

    kind regrads
Dont worry about "knives and tubes". Knives are usually made from steel - tought to be rejected, especially if those are massive. Oinment tubes are usually made from pure Al (thicker walls)- not possible to be rejected. So stop worrying about that.
8cm long ferrite rod makes sounds at 2,3,4cms..... obvious proof that your coil is not balanced well. Put more effort in balancing coil. Make another coil. What can i say? I can not help you here!? No such advice which will solve your problems remotelly. How to help? Help yourself by better understanding and involving more effort arround coil..
    Regards!
