with the coils i handle it like you have written i have an orignal tesoro here for compare them with my diy it curious that the commercial one only does perform 1-2cm better than my diy (fast made and non precision)
price difference to my diy more than one hundred euro for list price

for the musketeer coil:
i ask a dealer here in germany he says me that the good ts1000 minelab coil is no longer produced any alternatives for the future?

That's the regular and most common excuse from dealers which have nothing to offer!
TS1000 is most produced coil at Minelab, ever!
Even if it is discontinued (which i am not sure) still there are plenty left in reserves.
Search at other dealer and you will find it. Search at ebay too.
Alternatives ... there are plenty! Don't worry!
Exellerator coils for Musketeer... let's see: 32cm, 36cm, 45cm! All those available.
I bet there are also other smaller producers which will offer such coils.
Bulgarian colleagues are very fast at such matters and capable to produce any kind of coil in no time.
Maybe is good idea to offer such smaller series to some Bulgarian producer to make?
Also there is one producer from Ukraine, can't recall it's name right now...

New Tesoro coils for most of new models are also having pretty same (if not exactly the same) specs as Musketeer coils!
I checked Vaquero coils; 1mH and 15mH!
So... Vaquero, Cibola, Tejon etc..etc.. coils also can be used too!
How about that?
I just revealed the important "secret" here!

Hi I asked this a wile ago but still not sure

On the tones in IGSL there are 2 diodes and you choose to connect them to 3 pins on a chip. We know 3 into 2 dont go. There are a lot of permutations here 2 ^3 ?

What is good choice here pls.

There are 3 possible tones, you choose the 2 that sound best to you
I used D1 to pad 9, D2 to pad 5

mod on tgsl for musketeer coil

Is there any of you here modified the TGSL to use the musketeer coil, Im thinking of trying it but i would want to switch it some how so i can use both types of coils for experimental purposes without damaging what already is quite a nice bit of kit.

That's easy task now.
Just see how is done at IGSL and "transfer" it to TGSL.
It will work, don't worry.
All you have to do is to change oscillator stage and nothing else.

That is good new about the Tesoro coils, I bought a Vaquero yesterday

Also despite the musketeer winning the poll we had, only 1 person has ordered a musketeer kit , a few people have both boards but we have only seen TGSL versions completed - I think the higher cost of purchasing the minelab coil compared to a tesoro coil may have put people off , so hopefully the good news about the tesoro coil will help

I have two friends with Vaquero's, those are very happy with it.
Which one you bought? "Germania" or "USA" ?
We noticed that those two are a bit different in behavior.

Now, since you have it, you must obtain coil connector for IGSL , to use Vaquero coil with it.
If you face some problems when using that coil with IGSL - pay attention on RX cap and try to adjust it a bit. Adding or subtracting from 15nF will tune up RX coil to match exactly.
As i recall... it will need a bit less capacitance than 15nF to match exactly the phase. Something between 14nF to 14.7nF.
Use Quiaozhi's calculator, it is accurate.
With TX part you will not have problems at all.

On second thought... maybe you will not need to tune up capacitance with RX coil.
Why?
Simply because now at IGSL you have adjustable amplitude at TX.
Adjusting it a bit, you may match the "ranges" and everything can come to it's place.
Simple facts to know: changing the amplitude will affect frequency at IGSL, which will indirectly affect RX tune up.
Change amplitude in very small steps.
Use multi turn trimmer for 200ohms.
Play a bit with it before decide to tune capacitances in RX, because, most probably you will not need to do that later...
