        I recorded the video 16 years ago, but I still remember that the coin was a 50 cent coin and I detected it 40 cm in the air.

          The RX resistance matters very little. The higher TX resistance will add a small amount of phase rotation that is removed with the ground calibration. The resistances you have will work, and are not the cause of your lower sensitivity.

              Either you don't know how to adjust the timing potentiometer, or it seems you don't know how to wind the coil; the one I built—I don't recall if it was 27 cm or 32 cm—had a range of 45–50 cm in an air test. Conditions in the field are different, of course! But if the device picks up the metal well and you watch the LCD screen, it performs quite solidly... And did you move the filter capacitors (located after the 100k resistor) to ground? If you stick to the factory schematic, those capacitors at the output of the CD4066 chip drastically reduce detection depth!

              • The small pcb was taken off the idx that Bill mod finished, it's actually the pump charging schematic, and last time I did the idx was a 00 coil and the number of turns was tx 45 with rx 140, range in air 50cm.

                  The IDX Pro is such a great device.
                  If it could detect a 50-cent coin at a depth of 35 cm underground, there would be no need for another device.
                  Four years ago, I made a coil with 30x25 dimensions, an inductance of 1.023 mH, and an RX value of 11 mH.
                  It detected the coin in the attachment during the field test.
                  The fact is, the IDX Pro is a device capable of working with all types of coils, provided it is properly calibrated.

                    In places where there is no mineralization, where the soil is loose, I think it can detect the coin at 30 cm, maybe more, but it is set to (All metals) and we are only looking at the LCD display for discrimination. I have found the most silver coins with idx, I have tried a lot of new acclaimed models like deus 1 gmax 2 etc. none of these I can say did not pass the test next to idx Whites!

                    • I can claim that when the ground is soaked after heavy rains, the ib goes deep, but when the ground is dry as powder, not a single ib goes deep. Second, it depends on the type of soil where the solid soil is clay or mineralized and the same device that achieves fantastic results in loose soil in clay may not detect a target more than 15cm.

                        • Admiral TX, approximately ACV, pumps 12 volts; the system is very different, though.
                          It makes people wonder whether it might be capable of sensing things from even greater depths.

                            See schematic, is your mean 1uF+22K or 220n+100k?
                            I checked my parts, it is exactly like schematic.
                            Now, my Air depth for a coin (made of Copper, zinc and nickel, 25mm diameter) is 31-32 cm.
                            My coil size is 30cm.

                              Thanks, my Air test was 8V, not 15V.
                              Do you remember your TX and RX inductance, Wire size and parallel capacitor?

                              • First remove C5 and C6 and move the same capacitors at the input to the amplifiers or behind 100k! My TX capacitor is 470 nf with 45 circles of 0.45 mm thick wire and rx 140 circles and 0.25 mm thick.And R25 replaced from 10k to 1k..
