I have spent along time reading about this Pi detector, it seems to have been of great interest to many others But here is a question for all the people that have built it, What have you found, is this your goto Detector... have you found a better one ?

Hello everyone. I bought a book, bought a couple of printed circuit boards from a silverdog, an arduino nano. They promise to send it within two weeks. The rest of the details are all there. I hope to have time to do it before the opening of the season. I will use it under water.

i made this for the same purpose, underwater. Bought also the pots (vishay p16np) i liked that you can adjust the code (not tried yet) to suit your purpose, and the analog threshold. But this design is limited. Anyways if you don't hunt you don't find. Sometimes depth is not so important.

AND THE MAIN PURPOSE IS: GOLD. we need to setup our detectors to have good depth on gold, because this is the main use of pulse induction (apart from those who are hunting for silver coins..). For example, fast pps, small pulse width/sample width, less noise. targeting gold micro jewelry - gold rings.

I like felezjoo because you can adjust everything and it is deep. But i don't like the fact that is not so stable, i need that steady threshold. And waterproofing it is easier, waterproof box with transparent lid, reed switches instead of buttons, stylus pen with magnet to adjust settings.

By the way, an interesting point with this IP-68 standard. Nokta-Macro puts IP-68 on its metal detectors at an immersion depth of 3-5 meters. And does not indicate the time of use at a depth underwater. Equinox 800 has up to 3 meters, what is the protection class? Last year, a colleague drowned three Equinox 800s, walked up to his neck in water.

The best thing to do is test it yourself. The IP rating gives the minimum requirement for compliance with the standard. Apple says its IP68 rated iPhone12 can survive up to 6 metres deep for 30 minutes.

And the block is under the elbow. It's about 70 cm underwater. Sometimes, of course, it can fall to the bottom, but my height is 1.76 m.
There are no problems.

Hello. I haven't tried SP16 myself.
But there is a friend who makes underwater detectors, installs exactly SP16, tested up to 20 meters, there are no problems.
Connector inner o-rings can be set slightly thicker to improve sealing. And to avoid distortion, use an underwater lubricant for the o-rings.

It's bad that they can no longer be bought on aliexpress. But there are many others that will work too.
