Ive got to pick a paint or varnish to do a concentric you see.

    Hi
I don't think make really matters as originally was using Ron seal outside hard glaze but couldn't get anymore, but i do use Ronseal, if you find its running a bit thick just add a splash of turpentine which is proper ordinary paint thinners not the substitute type as Ive not tried it.
If you got any mix over after you have done your coils don't throw away , just put it in a sealed bottle with a splash of thinners and that will keep you going for your second coat after at least 24hrs which is all you should need.
Just remember that you wont get accurate resistance readings for at least 48hrs in well ventilated room.

8" coil works well in fact the coils I made for the TGSL which incl 12" DDs which were a bit unstable proberly due to seeing to much ground amongst other things for the TGSL to handle, there is very little difference between 10" and 8" far as depth here in uk soils beach maybe different, The 8" is as you say perfect for iron infested ground which we see plenty of here in fact is was the 8" coil I was using when finding the Gold ginney which was 45 degrees about 6" down which was remarkable because as you no or may not no there thin about the size of a 5 pence piece.
The Coil spec Ive been using have been same as the originals, which are 6.2mh/5.7mh using the 101 version with Ivonics preset mod on the TX which is good for final tweaking of nulling and EDU mods far as the 47k to 1megohms , cant remember the frequency of my machines as its been such along time ago.

All the best on your new permission hope its fruitful rewards, don't fall into the trap of to much discrimination with the TGSL, keep it turned on but backed right off and dig everything with 2 way passes even if its broken up signal on return sweep because otherwise you will loose the deeper stuff amongst all the iron deposits, better still get some pea sticks take a young lad with you and mark the dig gable spots with the sticks and let him do the digging while you carry on detecting, then his reward is when your knacked let him have ago.

    Regards

    Dont forget the IDX -

    smaller pcb,
    crisp disc
    pin pointer

not the deepest - but stable and east to make and tune - tolerant to design tweaks - eg my coil was set up for ~12kHz and it gets hammered silver - the 6kHx original may not have got these coins.

probably not quite as good as the TGSL - dont know why though!

We need a TGSL with a full wave demod to sharpen it up further.!.!

Thats the 5 million dollar question because you need to chat with someone who has built both and detects on land with similar if not the same type of land properties where you will be detecting.
Have been told of good reports with the King Kobra but thats not advise just opinions.
The TGSL is the most popular built induction balance metal detector on here so thats where I would personally spend my money purely because of the back up you have if you hit problems cant really go wrong and at the very least there a good back up detector where you can just throw one one in the van as I do without worrying about it because it costs so little to build.

The first one I made which was many moons ago has been totally abused from day one, its shoved from pillar to post, never cleaned its dropped stood on and had heavy things chucked on top of it, got wet and it still works as good as ever.

    hi

thanks for your reply (dfbowers and satdaveuk )

i saw King Kobra and Tgsl . now I have one other question .

    which one have beater sensitivity

    best regards

    Hi Dave!
There are differences between the two circuits without a doubt . I built two of each and noticed right away.
The most important one is the overall frequency response, meaning the optimum sweep speed is different.
When Eduardo first posted his schematic, Simonbaker ran a Spice simulation just to verify.

Specifically, Eduardo’s version can potentially offer greater depths with a lower sweep speed. This is because U103a and 103b
act as low pass filters with the gain and frequency response being controlled by R29 and R31 (which have their values doubled) and the values of C14 and C17 (which are larger).

The screen shot below shows the “Ivconic” version, but for the Eduardo version, just imagine the frequency response curve being shifted to the left a few Hertz. This whole discussion is buried in the thread somewhere.

If someone built one or the other, I would think that getting the most out of it is a matter of knowing the machine.

And a little better audio if you want to use an external speaker. With that said, I detuned my Silverdog kits to keep the overall frequency response the same. Eduardo's version my need a slower sweep speed to get the same audio response.
Thats a very strong and interesting comment you made there Don like something out of sales media, Can you please explain what builds and tests you made to come to that conclusion?
I never built EDU version so I cant really comment on the performance only judging by opinions that have been posted, however what I have proved is that you cant judge a build from a bought ready to assemble DIY kit as there are to many variants with the torrence of components which are just pulled out of a bag.
I built my second Ivonics version 101 with accurate specified component values building a 10" DD coil painted with my graphite mix which is stable good depth, sound is excellent with good headphones running at half volume and handles very well on English soil, Performance is around 20% better than my first build which was out of the bag components.
Machines with extra gain can often lead to all sorts of problems in the real world so that doesn't really give viable credit in my opinion, if only it was that easy, because then there would be allot of hot' builds.

    Hi
There isn't a better one between the two, there has been alot of success with both builds.
If your a beginner and want to buy a kit go for EDU version from Silverdog.

    Hello paku
I think YOU should use a 16ohm dynamic speaker instead the piezo sounder.

it is close to 145 meters of anameled copper wire 0,25 mm

found one on e-bay but it is by weight... it does not say how long it is

D coil is not half of circle but it can be... double D coil as one circle 23 cm in diameter or close to it
    2 x R x 3.14

    R is diameter/2
    23,5 x 3,14 = 72,22 cm
