Possibly an alternative PIC?
I was recently wondering, just how much bandwidth is needed for the VDI Unit that Holyuser (I believe it was him, apologies if I am wrong) designed and made? Because if say a PICAXE chip was fast enough, there is no programmer needed, just a serial or USB port cable and its possible to reprogram "in situ" so to say.....so a change of function could even be made in the field provided a laptop was available!!
The PICAXE chips run basic, but up to 40Mhz, so it could be possible, but only Holyuser could say for certain.
The chips are exceedingly cheap and very flexible in usage, anyone needing more info can ask and I will send them a good link to get them started.....By the way, all software and manuals are all totally free to download as the company Revolution Education designed them with financial assistance from the UK Government.....
Regards
Andy
