Hi Simon yes you would think it would be exciting.
The first one floors you.
After 10 its ok, I know a guy who gets over a hundresd a year and gives them away.
I would love to get a silver Denarious, or GOLD coin - I have had 2 silver aincient coins but no GOLD. Im ready for GOLD.

Riev - the switch was there to allow a two condition test.
I cut the trace from the 8v reg to the Tx cicuit, so I can wire higher volts to Tx. The 8v (+/-4v) still powers all other circuits as before.
While over real target I could flip from 8 to 12 to see if there was a change. There was a minor improvement.
When I realised it was better with 12v I removed the switch - I ran from 12 v direct to Tx - Via an on/off switch as before.
That was that.
I added 8v to the 12v in series to get the extra depth. This meaqns the Tx is 20V and rest of ccts run off the 8v (+/-4v) as before.
I also removed pinpoint circuitry, as I do not use and it adds noise in Disc mode.

Great results -- I'm always amazed at the number of Roman coins to be found still. Must be exciting.Originally posted by golfnut View Post2 Minor IDX mods
1)My kit was supplied with a 47ohm in the Sens resistor chain (for setting the tone trip level) I always felt that in use it had too little range or throw and chatter was issue especially on damp grass.
I fitted a 220R and this gives 9mV at full throw of the pot. Sits nicely mid point (~4mv) with less chatter - good mod for my unit.
2) I cut a trace to the Tx osc supply and fitted a switch so I could toggle between 8V reg or 12V direct in use.
I arranged coil height over buried target to almost loose valid signal - so only a one way tone on 8v.
Flip tthe switch to 12v and it repeatadly restored the 2way valid tone.
Minor but tested valid mods.
Some roman with these mods.

Nice!, but I`m not sure if I understand well. Besides R25 47Ohm You put 220Ohm or potentiometer resistor to indiwidualy adjust U4 like Eduardo wrotes earlier. And You increes Tx voltage adding just one switch like this:
Soe if oscilattor works better with 12V, for what is this switch? Maybe it can be done separating others components from 12V adding a 4148 like this? :
How much power consumption raised?
My IDX now works like this (sory for the quality):
This coin has 15mm diammeter, and it is burried at 28cm (11'')

This evening more depth on my IDX.
I do depth tests with the Disc rejecting Iron on my testbed. 12.5mm diameter targets at inch depth intervals.
I normally get 5" perfectly.
6" borderline - depending on conditions, rate of sweep, etc
I now get 7" really well - but the centre of the coil needs to be right over it and lightly brushing the ground - no air gap.
Does not get 8" with Disc set like this.
It does get 8" with Disc at all metal, but not 9".
I run my Tx straight from the battery, was 12v 3x800mA Lipos.
I noticed it was a little fresher response when full - so I added 2 more Lipo cells - So 5 Lipos in series. 20 Volts supply - direct to Tx oscillator .
I have 30V pp on Tx coil.
No more squirrelly with the extra Tx welly = not had opportunity for wet grass testing or real detecting as only just modded, suspect it will be good.
The ML exp 2 Did 8 inches on the testbed - 9" with a scratchy, no dig suspect tone
So 5 to 7 inches ------ one inch less than the Exp2 !!! by adding a few more volts.

1) "hello guys why i cant discriminate large piece of iron and aluminium foil???"
2) "i can disc out small steel nail.and smalls piece of iron and foil!!"
Large Iron has a large time contant and its positive phase lives where non ferrous positive phases live - So you cant remove them on this kit, sorry.
"but when turn disc to zero(0) my detector again make signal to large piece of iron and tube of aluminium foil"
Yes thats normal I believe. It will also make signal noises to small Iron here also.
This machine does not have an All metal switch. So, when Disc pot is at '0' - this is ALL Metal. You need to advance the Disc pot to not detect the small Iron and that is the best you can do. This kit does not resolve the phases of the target signals, but the amplitude of signals detected a predefined phase offsets form the Tx signal.
A little confusing but there it is.

i can disc out small steel nail.and smalls piece of iron and foil!!but when turn disc to zero(0) my detector again make signal to large piece of iron and tube of aluminium foil!!i try adjust Pot in PCB but it is impossible i cant discriminate large iron and tube of aluminium foil!!i have some capacitor in pcb +/- 20% Tolerance but values are good!can be that a problem??

Large iron has a long time contant and so comes thru where ally lives - unaviodable on these simpler machines.
Machine isnt failing with the large Iron - you will get that from a good working IDX, or a Goldmaxx power even.
--------------------------
Can you disc out a small plain steel nail - not galv ?? CLearly should be able to.. Disc about 4/10 on mine
-----------------------------
I ran my IDX with foil and tried to get rid of it with Disc.
I can reduce it all to 'almost nothing' the odd click if 1" above it. but disc way over - say 8/10
Lead was going here and gave a one way tone, scrappy I wouldnt dig - lost 2" approx on lead ball 12.5mm dia UK soil.
UK 20p rang out still - I think has nickel in it. Probably lost 1"
Roman Bronze still came thru. -- but was a test coin on surface
Suspect small gold would have long gone.
Sounds like the Disc range is a bit off centre.
Ally should be the first thing to go, as well as small gold !
If u made the coil its initial phasing may be a bit 'late' so the Disc throw' may not b enough.
Try adjusting the pot on the pcb ?
Did you use correct pots and cap values in the Disc delay cct?

Hi guys! Excellent job to all of you! Can you advise me, can I use 4 x 3,7 v Li-ion elements to power it? This is 14,8 volts.

Sorry, I forgot. Here is the translation:-
How are prices , delivery costs, how can I find more information about the insurance ?
Be aware that I can translate to Turkish , but I cannot speak or listen to it!
Thank you for your help.
Do you have a website in English or German ?
