Guess what..
I looked at shematic and almost all the parts were also in my el. junque box.
As I was free yesterday I etched and populated the board..
.. few parts are still missing -10caps and IC-sockets

My question would be ->
What are those 4.7uF "BI" caps? On blury shematic "B.Pol[?]"
Probably bi-polar (non-polarised)??
I can attach large 4.7uF (100V) polyester caps, but are really BIG.

Why IC-sockets? -> because If I'd bet:
I guess it's about 4:1 in favor of project-non-working..Remember Ivconic's Gold Demon?
So I'd like to save at least IC's when my hammer strikes.

Where are the CI's???

Given the big voltage drop between the 12V battery and 8V LM7808, it seems reasonable to add a permanent protection diode in the power circuit schematic for the TGSL. Schottky should give most battery life. Maybe keep lunamay out of trouble...

One of the best project here! The Guarantee is that all the information is correct and the end project can be made to work as good or better than a commercially built one. But.. It's up to the builder to duplicate.. You may invest a week of your time and about 50 bucks. Can be difficult without a scope but not impossible!!

What does everyone think about wiring the headphone jack for TGSL for stereo headphones?

Do you wire phones in series and ignore shield connection, or wire in parallel and ground shield connection, or other?

I'm using a cheap set with about 35 ohms per ear piece.

I'm tempted to wire in series, ignoring shield, to reduce power drain -- they're plenty loud that way.

SB, Energy (and ear :-) saving is done by 150 ohm resistor as shown below. Save your ears; don't use phones without this resistor!
The 35 ohm resistance per ear piece is inherent not only for cheaper, but for all stereo headphones. If your phones have shielded cable, they are not cheap. The cheap phones use simple pair wire for each piece, even not enough twisted pair.
The serial connection of earpices produces antiphase sound pressure for ears. In this case your brain can not imagine where is the sound source. If this not create an uncomfortable feeling for you, use it.
If where no resistor 150 ohm, sound power (pressure) at seral connection decreases twice, but because of the logarithmic human hearing, the loudness (volume) decreases only by 3 dB.
However in this circuit, the serial connection can sound even more loud because of better impedance matching of 70 ohm load with 150 ohm signal source. Signal source operates as if it has impedance 150 ohm as shown.

Most people use headphones with a built-in volume control for the Tesoros. You can get these cheap from a metal detector shop.
