i do not understand that you ask about do you mean you use a MICROamperemeter and it is the problem? then remove it temporary.

7909 is a option. you can use either the diodes or 7909. automatic-manual is also will be a option, there will be a connector at PCB for the switch.

I need an info on potentiometers which are more popular among people - dimensions sizes.

seems you are off the matter. you can reject small trash like a cola can, nails etc. I suggest you to read a manual on Deepers, in another thread. that is nice good description what the deeper does and designed for.

The best choice is S16KN1 it can be used as much as possible because the depth of the Legs =0.4mm Possible to place a 0,125W resistors under the pots. and u get 0.1mm if cut the smalle metal up the leg.
